Hi friends! It's been a while since I've shared any SugarPea Designs creations, but I'm here today sharing TWO cards made with this month's Mix It Up Challenge. It has a clean, graphic look to it, so I decided to make two CAS designs for this particular challenge.
I really liked the triangles in the quilt, so I decided to use the Card Front Element Builders to create a triangle shape. I did some blue ink blending in the negative space of the two blended yellow pieces, which ended up being the perfect place for the sentiment. All of the images for this card are from the Indian Summer stamp set and are some of my favorite images!
I stamped and colored all of the images using alcohol markers and then used the coordinating Indian Summer SugarCuts to die cut them.
You can see that the two yellow pieces are raised up using foam squares and it leaves the sentiment portion recessed. I also mixed some black acrylic paint with a touch of water to add some black splatters for some extra detail. I always find that it is important to "test" your splatters on a piece of scrap paper to make sure they are the right size for your project. An easy tip for this is that the size of paint brush determines the size of the splatters. For this card, I used a very narrow pointed brush to get these particular splatters. It doesn't hurt to experiment to decide what type you like the best...if any at all! LOL!
As you can see, my second card is identical in layout and color. I actually made this one first, and then decided that I wanted to play around with some colorful images, so the second card was born!
This card is VERY CAS, but I think it works with these beautiful feathers and sentiment from the BoHo Feathers Stamp set. I stamped the sentiment onto the grey portion using black ink.
The feathers are heat embossed in gold onto vellum and then die cut using the coordinating Feathers SugarCut. I was attempting to follow the sketch portion of the challenge at this point, but didn't really follow through completely! LOL! I added a few sequins for some added detail and shine.
The feathers are secured with a big, gold gem at the top. I also added some black splatters to this card as well. I hope you get a chance to join us and play along, especially with such a fabulous prize up for grabs! Thanks for fluttering by!
