I can't believe it's already day 3 of the Papertrey Ink October release countdown! What's been your favorite so far? For me, it's a toss up between the Serene Evergreens and the Timeless Ornament! That being said, there are some beautiful products been introduced today as well! My first card features the new Into the Blooms: Bold Berries. This is such a wonderful new die set that can be used year-round. I'm already dreaming of juicy blueberries to accent summer cards and projects!
My card for today was inspired by a cute Christmas illustration that featured berries, foliage, and a Christmas gift! To begin, I used the Beautiful Berries Hot Foil Plate on a 4 by 5 1/4 inch of a really light pinky-peachy color I got from Cardstock Warehouse. I used Spellbinders Blush Foil for a tone-on-tone look to frame the accents.
I used the center portion of the mid-size die included in the new In Frames: Rectangles Die collection for the gift. I cut it from Vintage Cream cardstock and then added some antique linen distress oxide ink around the edges. I also added some Pale Peony and vintage photo distress ink splatter lightly over the top. The bow was created using the Bows Galore Die and I cut it from Sweet Blush cardstock and added some shading with Pale Peony ink and a blender brush. I cut strips of cardstock with my paper trimmer to mimic the ribbon wrapped around a present and simply glued them with liquid glue across the rectangle. The bow is added with foam squares.
Once that was done, I got to work on the berries. I cut the actual berries from the same background paper and then the little accent pieces are cut from Sweet Blush. I added shading to the berries using Sweet Blush ink and some shading to the detail pieces using Pale Peony ink. I glued them together and then added some Fossilized Amber Distress Spray. The branches and leaves are cut from white and then colored with Stormy Sea ink and then spritzed with the distress spray. I also used some holly leaves from the Tag Creations: Modern Gift Die; this set has been getting quite the workout as well. It is one of those sets to just keep in reach so you can use it all season long. I colored these leaves with Stormy Sea and Pinefeather ink.
I added the gift right in the center and then simply placed the branches where I wanted them, I didn't even glue them down. I decided to just add the foam squares to the back of the berries and place them down, which in turn, kept the branches in place. I added the leaves and then tucked the holly leaves here and there.
I had a few snowflakes leftover from day 1, so I added those along with the sentiment. It is stamped on one of the darling new diecuts from the Hold That Thought Die in Stormy Sea ink. The sentiment is from the Just Sentiments: Believe mini stamp set. I added some gems and pearls to the snowflakes and some Crystal Stickles to the berries and foliage.
I have two more cards using the Bold Berries, but I'm going to switch gears for a minute to share my card using the new Reflections: John 16 stamp/die set. I always enjoy the Reflections series and this one is such a powerful and beautiful verse.
Oftentimes I will take my design cues based on what the scripture is saying, and in this case, it talks about the world. I decided to go with that theme for this card. To begin, I used the stencils that are included in the Elegant Notes Stationery Kit. I stenciled the Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores ink using the two-step stencil and then used the World Map Stencil Collection with Green Parakeet and New Leaf ink. I cut the panel to measure 4 by 5 1/4 inches and layered it onto a top-folding A2 white card base using foam squares.
There are two beautiful pierced detailed rectangles included in the Reflections: John 16 Die and I chose to use the largest one cut from vellum to anchor the ornament. The ornament is from the new Timeless Ornament Die that was showcased on day 1. I cut it from Hawaiian Shored cardstock and the detailed portion around the middle is cut from Aqua Mist. I haven't hoarded paper scraps like I do with this particular cardstock! ha ha! I added some Hawaiian Shored ink around the ornament and Aqua Mist ink around the edges of the band.
I added some blue pearls as details to the ornament and then adhered the sentiment over the top using foam squares. This was cut using the Reflections: John 16 Detail Die and then stamped in black.
For the details, I had some holly leaves left over from the last card I will be sharing today. I also had a few poinsettias leftover from my second card I shared on day 1. The details at the top of the ornament are cut from silver cardstock and the gold star is from the Love to Layer: Christmas Tree.
I gave the entire thing a spritz of shimmer spray and called it gooe!
My next card features the new Farmhouse Vase Stamp/Die set paired with the new Into the Blooms: Bold Berries Die. This is a match made in heaven, but both pieces can obviously be used for all kinds of projects on their own.
I also used the new This is Big Sentiments: Silent Night Stamp/Die set as well as both of the new hot foil plates.
I'm looking forward to using this cute vase with all kinds of flowers in the spring and summer.
I added some rock candy glitter to the berries and leaves. It gives them a snowy look, but not as sparkly as regular glitter.
I find it's easiest to just tuck the branches where I want them and then add the berries and leaves later.
My final card for today also uses the new Bold Berries, but this time with some of my other favorite winter foliage dies. I used the pine sprigs and pinecones from the Into the Blooms: Pine Die and the Into the Blooms: Holly Die. Since the Bold Berries are red, I chose to create white berries with the holly berries.
I cut all of the foliage and berries from white cardstock and then colored them with dye inks, with the exception of the branches which are colored with walnut stain distress oxide ink and the shading on the white berries is antique linen distress oxide ink.
I cut the largest circle included in the new Circle It Pierced Die from Vintage Cream cardstock and then used the arc to start adding foliage and berries. I tucked things here and there until I was satisfied with the arrangement.
For the background, I used the new Holly Berries Stencil Collection that was featured on day 1 on an A2 panel of Vintage Cream cardstock. I used a light hand with Ripe Avocado ink for the leaves and a heavy hand with the stems using the same ink. The berries are Scarlet Jewel ink.
I layered the focal circle onto the background using foam squares and then got to work on the sentiment. I knew I wanted to use this cute wooden sign die included in the new Hold That Thought Die, so I stamped the sentiment first onto a piece of Vintage Cream cardstock. I placed the die over the top and cut it out. This particular sentiment die has the additional pieces on either side so I colored those with walnut stain distress oxide ink and then glued them on.
I covered up the words using a post-it note and then added some walnut stain ink splatter. I also added a trio of sparkling clear sequins and Rock Candy glitter.
This wraps things up for today, but join me tomorrow for the 4th and final day of the countdown! Thanks for fluttering by!

Each of your cards are gorgeous and, as I have mentioned before, I appreciate the details you give of the process. As I read, I see things that hadn't caught my eye but is a huge part of the overall design. I am smitten with those berries and adore the Reflections verse; these are going in my cart first.
I always look forward to seeing your new posts. Amazing work as always.
