The Papertrey Ink October release countdown has flown by and we find ourselves at the 4th and final day! I hope you've enjoyed everything so far! I have two final cards to share with you today to finish off the release! Every once in awhile, there is an opportunity for the design team to create something of our own choice near the end of the release. This is my "free space" project and I've incorporated a few of the new products on this design.
I mentioned yesterday that one of my favorite new die collections is the Serene Evergreens, which I have used again for this card. I have been dying to make a card with bow details and this was my chance; this style of tree just complements the bows so well!
To begin, I foiled two panels of Gray Kraft cardstock (cardstock warehouse) using the Fanciful Snowflakes Hot Foil Plate; this has been a favorite ever since it was released a few years ago and I just love it! I used silver foil and then cut one panel using the largest die included in the Love to Layer: Scalloped Ovals. I layered the oval over the top of the other background trying to match up the design as best as I could.
I had the middle portion of one of the new In Frames: Rectangles Die on my desk and layered that in the middle of the oval for a backdrop for the top of the tree. I added it using foam squares.
Using the Serene Evergreens Die, I cut the detailed layer three times from white cardstock and the base layer once. I colored the base with Green Parakeet ink and then glued the three detailed layers together with liquid glue. I colored that with Green Parakeet, New Leaf, and Pinefeather ink and then added Pinefeather ink splatter and white acrylic paint splatter.
The bow for the top and the bows on the branches were cut from Sweet Blush cardstock using the Bows Galore Die. Once they were all cut, I added some Scarlet Jewel ink to the middle of each bow. The one at the top is two different layers, so I glued that one together and then added them all to the tree.
I used one of the cute dies included in the Hold That Thought Die collection for the banner portion of the sentiment. I heat embossed the PEACE ON EARTH sentiment in silver on a strip of Sweet Blush cardstock. I trimmed it down and added the same Scarlet Jewel shading as the bows. I added it to the banner using foam squares and attached it to the tree. I had fun embellishing the tree with pearls and gems as well as some Shimmer Spray-Sparkle.
My final card for today and for the release uses the new Winter Iris Stamp/Die set. I stamped the outline images and then colored them with alcohol markers. I cut them out with the coordinating die set.
This stamp set comes with two friendship sentiments, so I took a break from Christmas and added one of the beautiful sentiments.
The elegance of the irises warranted a beautiful background so I chose the Merry Motifs Hot Foil Plate foiled in champagne on Royal Velvet cardstock.
The rectangle is another one of the center portions cut from the new In Frames: Rectangles Die. I love that there is built-in pierced detail so you can use the middle. I added some Royal Velvet ink around the edges and then arranged the flowers and sentiment. I added some white ink splatter since the set is called Winter Iris! ha ha!
This concludes my post for today and for the release! Everything will be available for purchase tomorrow! Thanks for fluttering by!
