Welcome to day 3 of the Ink To Paper June release countdown! My first project uses the new set called It's a Sign: Beautiful that I paired with a new die set called Geometrix. I used the rectangle on today's project. These Geometrix dies can be used in a quite a few ways, but for today's design, I just used the outline piece that you can see peeking from behind the sentiment sign.
This new stamp set is a lot of fun and I know I will be using it a lot in the future. It comes with a frame image and a coordinating die cut and so many fabulous sentiments. I really wanted to try to create a chalkboard look for my card. To create the chalkboard, I heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder on black cardstock. I used my mini MISTI so that I could go back over the heat embossed image a second time with white ink. Once that was stamped, I rubbed my finger over the words to smear some of the white ink to give the appearance of chalk.
The flowers and leaves that are included in this set are some of my favorite. They are so easy to stamp because they are a solid one step image, unless you add the stamped center, which I did. They are still bold and beautiful despite their ease!
I also created a fun border to drape across the chalkboard using the new Garden Party stamp set that was showcased on Day 1. I know I will be using this set a lot, too!
I added some gems to the centers of 3 of the flowers for some sparkle and shine!
My second card uses the new Simply Sweet: Thanks stamp set! I used it in an unexpected way, for sure, but sometimes when the stamps speak to you in a particular way, you just have to go with it! LOL!
I was actually getting to work die cutting the leaves for a different card and thought that the die cuts looked just like watermelon seeds. The creative wheels started spinning and this card was born! I think it's perfect for this time of year and I can't wait to send it out!
To begin, I layered the Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, and Simply Chartreuse cardstock together and then used the new Oval Geometrix die to die cut the oval. Once that was done, I added the flowers to the top, which are actually part of a cute wreath you can make with this new set. I added the "seeds" using liquid glue and then added a layer of Crystal Glaze over the top to give them some shine.
I stamped the "thanks" letters and die cut them using the coordinating dies and arranged them at the top using foam squares. The "for being so wonderful" sentiment, which is also from this set, is heat embossed in white and added underneath the thanks letters using foam squares as well. I had so much fun creating this fun watermelon design! Thanks for fluttering by!
