Enjoy the Moment

The title of my post pretty much sums up this card. Yesterday I spent the day making quite a few projects that did and will end up in the trash. I spent yesterday morning making a seriously ugly card for the Color Challenge, which ended up in the trash. Then I decided to make some projects using some of my new Papertrey Ink. stamps, which turned out cute, until the ink smudged, the paper was cut incorrectly, etc. Yesterday was not my day...as far as stamping goes. The most frustrating thing about it all was that I *wanted* to stamp, but nothing was coming out right. At times like this it is just best to step away from the ink and set the stamps down! LOL! ( I did make a little banner similar to my spring banner for my kitchen, but it says "HOME" and I did it in my kitchen colors. I thought it might bore you to tears, so I didn't post it.)

So...I was fearful today was headed in the same direction when I checked out the Sketch Challenge. It just didn't inspire me, so I ran some much needed errands, made a quick stop to the quilt shop and picked the girls up from Kindergarten. The quilt shop is always a wealth of inspiration and I purchased a few things, including a darling little pattern that I can't wait to share the results! I will post it to my other blog "Thimbles and Thread", but I will link it here as well.

After lunch, I set out to create a card, falling back on some of my tried and true stamps, etc. So...with that in mind I just decided to "Enjoy the Moment"; and I did. This card isn't fresh, isn't unique or much different from many of my other creations, but I had fun making it and I love the color combo and vintage touches. I hope you like it, too! Thanks for fluttering by!

BTW: I totally love the quote on my blog today from Kurt Cobain!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has THOSE type of stamping days! Today's post may not be anything overly new, but it is very pretty. I do love the colors and the vintage touches as well.

This card is GORGEOUS!! It is absolutely perfect! I am glad to hear that someone as talented as yourself does indeed have those days that everything ends up in the trash! It's reassuring to us "Kelly wanna-be's." :)

I have many days like that, but even on a good day, my cards don't look as "chic" as yours----just beautiful! And you have ANOTHER blog--goin' to check it out right now!

Hello Kelly,

I know what you mean about nothing working out right! I encounter the same more often than not. To you, the card was not so exciting or new, but I can tell you that to others, it is. I think it is very pretty, soft and a reminder that sometimes it's the simplest things that make our hearts the happiest. like a hug, a kiss from a child or a spring bouquet. my heart's happy!

have a great day

Hugs,

Heidi

Silly girl! What you call "not unique" or different from any other of your cards just means that you're giving us more of why we fell in love with your work! What's not to love??

Hugs,

Kelly since you said this card may not be fresh, you were happy stamping it and that is all that matters. I love this card and to me it is absolutely gorgeous! I had one of those days yesterday and posted the most ridiculous card today, just because I needed a card.

Kelly, this card makes my heart sing! It's in "my colors" and in the vintagey style that you do so well. We don't need something new - just keep being you! Love it!!!

My last stamping efforts felt very much the same as you described!

I wish I'd pulled out of it as successfully as you did with this card. It's absolutely beautiful.

Oh Kelly, first let me say that there is NOTHING you could post that would bore me to tears....you're so silly! I'd love to see your kitchen banner!

I have to tell you that I've tried this glitter effect on my card edges but it was a disaster! LOL! I'll just continue to admire your artwork!!!

This card is absolutely gorgeous!

It's beautiful Kelly!

You know I just had one of these conversations with someone yesterday....what to do when your mojo leaves you. One of the other girls suggested something similar to what you did...go back to what's tried and true and even case yourself, just change a few things.

You are an artistic master....but it's nice to know you're human too :)

I love your card, the colors, the "whole enchilada". What do you do to get that distressed look? How about a tutorial on distressing? Or am I retarded and it's something everyone knows how to do? The best, Naturegirl

That's so good to hear, that you occasionally get frustrated with the way something turns out. I look at your beautiful cards and it seems like you just sit down and in a short time turn out something that is spectacular! I come here for inspiration and to just stare! This card has a vintagy softness to it which is my favorite style. Your work is exquisite!
Go ahead and "bore" us with your kitchen banner. LOL

Yes, I have definitely had those days as well! Better to just walk away for a bit! (I would like to see your kitchen banner, though...pretty please?)

What a beautiful Springtime creation! I LOVE everything you do with this set!

I so understand making cards that end up in the trash! I guess every card maker does. The one today is so sweet. I just love it.

This is so pretty. I love the colors! Quite frankly, I appreciate hearing that someone as talented as you sometimes ends up tossing things in the trash. Makes me feel like it's okay for me to have those too - so thanks for sharing that with us!!

I've only been following your blog for a couple of weeks, so to me it is fresh. And I love it!

I can SO identify with those days where everything ends up in the trash. Been there.
It's reassuring to hear that I'm not the only one.

This is just beautiful, Kelly. I love all the distressed edges and skewed layers. Sorry that yesterday was such a letdown in the stamp room. We've all had those days! Falling back on what's familiar and enjoyable is always the best way to get your mojo back. And your "familiar" projects just seem like home - they're like a calm refreshing breeze on a summer's day. :)

How could any of your work end up in the trash? You always have presented beautiful pieces of art! But I guess we all have those days (or nights in my case)...This is a beautiful card. Can you tell me how you distress your paper and make it so realistically distressed and torn? I can never achieve that look. Thanks for the inspiration.

Alma =)
