*A Closer Look* #4 and a Card

Many of you have let me know how much you have enjoyed the *A Closer Look* Installments, so they are back and they will continue to be posted on Sunday! I have promised you photos of my new Embellishment Center, so here they are! You are all very lucky that you are actually getting photos because of all the trauma I have had with this thing! The first time I mounted it on my wall it was CROOKED. I even used my level and everything! Then I moved it and it was even more CROOKED!!! ughh!!! So...I got my wits about me and I was determined to get it hung. I finally did it! It was even straight! Yipee! So...I begin adding all of my ribbon, jars, etc. I just added the final jar and CRASH!!!!!!! The whole thing came crashing down, GLASS, BUTTONS, GLASS AND MORE GLASS! I couldn't believe the horror! I wanted to sit down and cry! Not only did I have a bajillion holes in my wall that I have to putty and paint, but it broke some of the dry wall and my precious button collection was amidst shattered shards of glass. I had to throw them all away!

Thank goodness that the rest were in the Making Memories plastic jars...I am realizing how smart they are to make them plastic! So...to make a long, sad story a little shorter. I decided to set it on top of my sewing table like a hutch (for the time being). My sweet husband said he would install it properly for me! I love him!!!! I also added a basket with items that are newer that I will use for inspiration. I actually like having it on the table because it looks like an old-fashioned general store! Lot of fun things to *shop* for! LOL!
I also made a card using my new Bella Rose DS paper from SU! and the new Dreams Du Jour Stamp Set! Isn't it all scrumptious? I am in love!

That sounds like my experience trying to hang my decorative shelving for stamp stuff...ack!! Why can't drywall just be made to hold up our things? Your card is simply gorgeous. I love that new paper too. I may have to get my preorder in....I was holding out, but you are enabling me! Thanks for sharing Kelly!

Oh, my goodness, Kelly! The horror!! I like how you have it now . . . and the general store idea is kinda neat.
I just spent part of my day today cleaning my stamping space and probably the most eye-opening (and disgusting) moment came when I turned my keyboard upside down and shook it out over my table. YIKES!! It was like dumping out my toaster!! I'll have to talk to my kids about eating in front of the computer!!
Your card is fantastic. I been busy planning an event featuring retiring stamp sets so I haven't had a chance to play with my new stuff yet - but this card inspires me! TFS!

I think thats how it all works some how. Oh well it looks great and I wish someday to have more room so that have a wonderful fun and great cabinet to put all my stuff in.

Oh Kelly you poor thing! I am glad you found a safe place to put it.

I remember a few years ago my sweet hubby tried to make me a card for my birthday and knocked my box of eyelets and brads all over the floor. I had just sorted it by color too! I still find them on the floor years later! LOL

Your card is gorgeous as always!

Beautiful card and I feel for you about your shelving. My DH is very good about it but there are a few things still waiting to go up in my room! And he is very good about bringing me back to reality when I "dream" about what can go where in my stamp room!
Where did you get your little hutch? It is very cute!

So sorry to hear about the crash of your beautiful shelf! I love doing projects like that myself but when it is over a certain weight I call the hubby in because he knows exactly how to get it on the wall right for me, something that I have yet to master.

The card is beautiful, I can't wait to see what is in store in the new catalog myself! Hope you have a great day!

Kelly, you're not alone! I have two magnetic boards hanging in my studio. You wouldn't BELIEVE how many holes are in the wall behind them!

Your card is beautiful !!! Love what you've been doing with buttons lately! I'm not much of a country style gal, but am lovin' the country look you've been capturing in your artwork! Awesome stuff!

Very sad story but a great card! I hate hanging things. My husband has to do it and when I ask, he complains about holes in the wall! Lucky you :)

Your card is gorgeous and I have my eye on that center, but I need to get my room painted first, so I am trying to restrain myself!!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your shelf and all the buttons and glass! Yikes! It took me three times (with dh's help) to hang my shelves up properly.

Anyway, I love the hutch. And I love the card!! It's so pretty! I love the new bella rose paper.1

I can relate to your frustration with handing things... been there, done that, cleaned that up!

Your center is amazing! Love all those embellishments... such candy.

Beautiful card too - I just love your style, Kelly!

Oh, Kelly! I'm so sorry to hear about all the trouble you had with this shelf, but I have to tell you--I like the table top placement, so maybe it was meant to be?!

Love, love, love your card! I just got my new colors and the Bella Rose dp too and am also in love!!

Hugs,

Oh my! What an absolutely gorgeous card! Those colors are yummy! Sorry about all your woes trying to put up the shelf. The moral of the story MUST BE.........ask hubby first next time! LOL

Sorry about all your trouble. I really like it like that and probably would not hang it at all.

Sorry you had such a difficult time with the shelf but it was worth it - this looks amazing! I love what you said about resembling a general store; it reminds me of the "penny candy store" in the quaint town where I grew up. All the candy was out in bins & containers and it was so colorful, and 50 cents filled a brown paper bag!

I'm putting my crafting room together and this is the look I want for one of the shelves I ordered that will sit on one "L" of my work area. My daughter and I are going to Ikea this weekend to stalk the Marketplace for clear containers for it, so I'm glad I visited your blog this evening.

And your Dreams du Jour card is beautiful. I just love all the colors in the new DP. Oh, I can't wait to get my new catalog!!!
