Ink to Paper Countdown Day 4

Well friends, today is the 4th and final day of the Ink to Paper July release countdown! I've got a lot to share with you today, so make sure you scroll to the end of the post to see all of today's projects. I'm super excited about this new On the Border: Floral Bliss die and new birthday sentiment set! I had so much fun working on all of the projects using this new border! I have a post from last year that gives tips on die cutting these intricate dies that you can read HERE!

I had so much fun with this border, I decided to make 2 coordinating cards for my first project! I die cut the borders and then glued them onto panels measuring 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches. Both cards use the previously released Framing Florals stamp set and dies. 

The birthday wishes sentiment is from the new "Pleasing Envelopes" set that I share more about at the bottom of this post, but I loved it so much I used it on this card! I used Copic markers to color the flowers, but the set does come with solid images so that you can stamp them easily.

This sentiment is from the new birthday sentiment set that I love. It has so many fabulous birthday sentiments in a variety of trendy fonts! I used the Geometrix Hexagon die to stamp the sentiment and add the flowers.

This one uses the new banner builder die set and I just can seem to get enough of it,either! 

I used one of the inside sentiments that were showcased yesterday because that is how they are meant to be used! LOL!

Up next is a fun box that I have been making for probably 19 or so years! I attended a class at a local scrapbooking store when my oldest son was a baby, so it is old! This template is not my own, but it's been so long that I'm not sure where to give the credit. Anyway, it is so easy to make and is the perfect size to hold a set of notecards and envelopes, which I have gifted many times. I also love to package up gifts inside these boxes as well,which is what I made today's box for.

I used the On the Border: Floral Bliss to decorate the lid. After I was done, I realized what a cute card it would make! LOL! I die cut the border out of white paper and adhered it to a piece of Hawaiian Shores paper. I used the previously released Joyful Jars Mini Stamp Set and Tag Creations: Joyful Jars Die to decorate the middle of the lid. 

This sentiment is also from the new birthday sentiment set and is just perfect for this jar!  I added some Nuvo drops to the centers of the flowers for some added detail.

The bottom of the box is made by trimming off one inch from the bottom of a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 cardstock. Once that is done, score 2 inches on each of the four sides. Use a bone folder to make the folds crisp. Trim some "tabs" to fold in and glue. You can get a visual for this on the photo above. 

The lid is made from a piece of cardstock that measures 7 1/8 by 8 5/8 inches. Score at 1 1/4 inches in from each side. Fold it and glue it just like the bottom. 

This photo gives you a better visual of how large the box is from this angle. It will hold quite a large stack of cards as well, depending on how thick they are. 

I added some sparkling clear sequins here and there for some shine and added detail. I added the die cut panel to the lid of the box using foam squares on the sides. I wanted to keep the middle free from obstruction just in case I decide to thread some ribbon through when I gift it. 

My last card using the On the Border: Floral Bliss die uses the smaller portion that is just the short width of a card. I die cut 4 of these out of white cardstock and glued two together. Once that was done, I did some ink blending to give it some specialized color. I also blended some ink onto a strip of white cardstock to create the sentiment panel . I used my mini MISTI to stamp the birthday sentiment. I had to stamp it MANY times to get a good impression over the Distress Oxide ink.

I moved the sentiment portion before I glued everything down and added some black paint splatter  for some added detail. Once that was dry, I added some Shimmer Spray over the top.

I added some sequins as well for some additional shine!

My last project for today is a set of envelopes that I created to coordinate with the two cards I shared at the beginning of this post. I used the new Pleasing Envelopes stamp set, which is so much fun! All of the different sentiments and design details are so beautiful and will make your outgoing mail so much happier!

As card makers, we know how important the envelope is, but I rarely take time to make them pretty! I used to make my own coordinating envelopes to match the card, but over time, I stopped doing it. Honestly, I think I got sick of the comments made to me by people who put me down for the things I enjoyed doing! 

I hadn't really thought about that until just now as I was typing, so I hope I didn't put a downer on this post! LOL! You can see a sample of the envelopes I used to make in THIS post.  {I just read that post and I attributed my decline of envelope making to the crotchety old mail people at the post office! LOL!} It's probably a combination of both!

It is important when stamping your envelopes to put a piece of scratch paper inside so that the ink doesn't bleed through. It was actually my Copic markers that do the most bleeding, so if you choose to just stamp, you may be alright!

Ink to Paper Countdown Day 3

Hello and welcome to day 3 of the Ink to Paper July release countdown! I just love the products that are being showcased today and I hope you do as well! First up is a really cute set called "Beachy Keen"...isn't that a cute name? I just love the realistic palm trees and all of the sentiments are so cute! 

I was at the water park and spied a pair of swim trunks with palm trees that totally inspired me. Once I set out to make my card, the only part of the inspiration that I used was the blended blue! LOL! 

To begin, I did some ink blending using Enchanted Evening ink on a 4 1/4 inch by 5 1/2 panel of Fresh Snow Linen Cardstock on the two short ends and sides, blending toward the middle. Once that was done, I used the Geometrix Oval die to die cut the center of the panel and then used the other die in the set to create the black oval frame. 

The outer oval is popped up onto a top folding white card base using foam squares. I used my mini MISTI to add the sentiment and theyellow sunset images. Once that was done, I was able to glue it directly down into the negative space. The black frame is attached using a 2 way glue pen. I stamped the sun and die cut it using the coordinating Beachy Keen die cuts and added it to the focal image.

I stamped the palm trees and added them around the oval using foam squares.  I also added a few sparkling clear sequins here and there for some shine. This was such a fun design to work on! I can't wait to make more cards with this cute set!

Next up is a fun new sentiment set that is meant to go on the inside of cards, but I LOVE this one so much, I thought it needed to take center stage. I also used the new Simply Sweet: Hello stamp set for the other design elements. This is such a fun set that has many ways to say hello, you'll definitely fall in love! Since I was making a birthday card, I didn't use many of the cute "hello" bits, but the flowers are so cute and really complement this simple, rainbow design.

I cut a few strips of cardstock; Hibiscus Burst, Harvest Gold, Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores, and Winter Wisteria. This is becoming my favorite rainbow lately, but I also like adding in a bit of Aqua Mist and Pale Peony if I can!

I layered them onto a panel that I die cut using the Nesting Basics Rectangle Dies using foam squares. I actually layed them out and then stamped the sentiment using my MISTI and THEN used the foam squares. 

I die cut the three rectangles using the coordinating Simply Sweet: Hello die cuts and then stamped the three flowers and black centers. I added some White Nuvo drops to the centers of each of the flowers. I also stamped and die cut the leaves for some added detail. 

Of course, I HAD to add a trio of sparkling clear sequins to the card for some shine. Once that was done, I was able to layer that panel onto a larger panel that had been die cut using the pierced rectangles as well.

Ink to Paper Countdown Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of the Ink to Paper July release countdown! I have quite a bit to share with you today using some of the new, fun products! First up is this AMAZING new die called Gift Card Holder: Pencil! This will be getting A LOT of use around here and today I'll be sharing 3 different ideas on how to use it! 

For my first project, I just used it as it is intended; a gift card holder that is just as cute as can be! It is designed so well; you just pull the end of the eraser and out comes the portion with the slits to hold the gift card. I created a "cover" for my gift card to make it all cohesive, but really, since it slides into the pencil sleeve, you could just have the gift card showing.

I used the new "To Die For Sentiments" to decorate the outside of the pencil sleeves. These are so much fun and I have used different ones on each of the 3 projects I created using this pencil die. 

I kept things pretty traditional by creating the standard "Number 2" pencil in yellow with a pink eraser! These will be perfect to give to teachers, artists, or anyone who loves pens and pencils! 

For my next project, I created a little treat slider that could be used for teachers OR for a note of encouragement for a child. My cute little 5 year old is headed to a special "Kindergarten Summer Camp" in a few days so I thought it would be fun to give him this when he is finished! These would be awesome for teacher appreciation, too!

I gave this pencil a spiffy look by using one of the pieces of pattern paper from the Men of Life pattern paper pad, which is a steal of a deal right now! In fact, there are so many amazing paper pads that are on sale for 2 dollars! They are perfect for projects like this!

I used the new To Die For sentiments on this one as well, as well as the new banner die that was showcased yesterday and the new sentiment set called Simply Sentiments. I used it on the first project as well. It is fun because it has different sizes of the same sentiment so you can tailor it to your needs. 

I slipped a Hershey's bar inside the sleeve! I contemplated wrapping it in some coordinating paper, but realized that for photography purposes, I should show it like this.

The candy bar fits perfectly inside. I left the foil sticking out, but you could totally tuck it in if you wanted. I just really liked the idea that you could see that there was a goodie tucked inside. 

My 3rd project probably doesn't come as much of a surprise for most of you. I realized when making the gift card holders, that I could create a box by adhering two of the die cuts together to create a box. I absolutely love making paper boxes, so of course I had to give it a try!

The only reason why I hesitate to make projects like this for blogging is because they are incredibly difficult for me to get good photos, so hopefully you can get the gist! 

I used the Men of Life paper for this pencil as well and added some flowers using one of my new favorites, It's a Sign: Beautiful. This box is quite large and can hold quite a bit of candy or whatever you decide to fill it up with. 

I created a base to glue to the bottom so that it can hold something. It is just a tiny box that I created and slid underneath and glued it with liquid glue. 

I put a cellophane bag inside filled with candy. I can't wait to make more of these for my kids' teachers!

My final project for today uses a fun new set called Bon Voyage! This one is so versatile and comes with so many fun sentiments that you can mix to create fun phrases. I decided to use the "sending" sentiment paired with the new banner dies and the Simply Sentiments stamp set.

To begin this design, I blended some ink onto a panel of Linen cardstock. I really like how it looks like fabric once it gets ink on it. I used it on a card I'll be sharing tomorrow as well! Once the blending was done, I added the Clouds and then the banner with the word CONGRATS embossed in white. I added some ink splatter using my color spritzing tool.

It's really easy to bend your stamps to get them to curve the way you need on these new border dies. 

The airplane and flying sentiment banner are stamped in black and then colored with copi markers. The stamp set comes with the solid image to add to the outline, but I like coloring, so I chose to do that.

I added a strip of Bitty Big: True Black pattern paper to the top and then used my sewing machine to stitch it along the top. Once that was done, I adhered it to a standard A2 card base using foam squares for added dimension.

A few sparkling clear sequins tucked here and there finish off this playful design. This will be perfect to give to new parents or someone headed off on a fun new adventure that requires congratulations.
