Project Inspiration {Make Your Own Waves}

Welcome, friends! It's my turn for the Project Inspiration feature from Papertrey Ink! It's been awhile since I created an ink blended background, so that is what inspired my project today! I love using flowers for summer, but sometimes it's fun to switch to other delights of the season and the beach and water are definitely on the list! 

To begin, I die cut two A2 panels from white cardstock. I added some masking/washi tape to the bottom to allow some white space for either a sentiment, and to keep the yellow (it will serve as the sunset) a little higher on the panel. I didn't want the yellow to get lost under the waves. Hopefully that makes sense!  I used distress oxide inks with blender brushes to add the color.

I repeated the same steps for the second panel.

I added some white acrylic paint splatters, trying to concentrate them at the top. It's hard to see stars against a lowering sun, so that was the method to my madness!

I must have gone a little wild on this panel because they are definitely lower down! woops!

Once that was done, I added some shimmer spray over the top of the two panels. I love how it reacts with the oxide ink.

Next, I die cut all of the pieces I would need for both boats from black cardstock, including the seagulls using the Build-a-Sailboat Die. 

I die cut the waves, moon, and clouds from white cardstock; grey ink for the moon and clouds and hues of blue for the waves.

I added some black ink splatter on the moon.

I stamped the sentiments, which are from the Floating By Sentiments Mini Stamp Set. I stamped the sentiment for the other card on the white space left from masking it off while I was adding the ink blending.

I added the waves using foam squares as well as the boat pieces. The seagulls are attached using liquid glue.

The waves for this card are attached using 1/8 inch Scor Tape at the bottom; this allowed me to tuck the boat underneath to make it look like it's submerged. I attached the clouds and moon using foam squares and then cut off the excess from the clouds using my paper trimmer.

I attached both panels to top-folding A2 card bases using liquid glue.

I added a trio of sparkling clear sequins to each of the cards using liquid glue! I had a lot of fun creating these two cards. I really miss creating ink blended backgrounds....I'm going to need to remember to try them more often for different types of cards! Thanks for fluttering by!

 

Let Us Give Thanks For All Our Blessings {Happy Thanksgiving}

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I hope you all have a wonderful day surrounded by those you love! I have a card to share with you today featuring a potpourri of different collections from The Greetery. I didn't use the Hint of Autumn release nearly enough, so that came into play, and I never did put the Christmas Market collection away, and of course the Christmas Gallerie collection has just stolen my heart!

Last week Betsy gave us all a tip: get some wood cardstock and do some embossing! Yes, Ma'am! I got straight to work recreating the same embossing combination she used, but I used some Cherry Wood Veneer  cardstock, but the type she used is on its way to my home!

I was awe-struck by the beautiful results of the cards and projects she shared with the wood paper and embossing. This particular veneer cardstock has a tendency to bow, so I glued it to panels of Kraft cardstock before I did the die cutting and embossing. This helped SO MUCH and helped keep the paper flat.

To begin, I cut a capsule frame using the Capsule Basics Die with the new Capsule Basics Stencil as my guide to get perfect results! I am so glad The Greetery is offering this collection fo stencils because it's going to help me out tremendously when I use anything that goes along with the capsule shaped stamps and dies. Once it was cut, I used the Rosemal Reflections Embossing Folder to give it the beautiful detail. I used a blender brush and  Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink to brush over the raised areas.

I followed the same steps for the outer frame, but used the Shortbread Shapes: Snowflake Die and Shortbread Shapes: Snowflake Embossing Folder. Once the two frames were cut, embossed, and colored with ink, I DID add just a touch of vintage photo distress ink to the edges. 

I cut the Filigree Border from Antique Gold cardstock as well as all of the other gold details; like the Hang it Up Die details and the stem of the Pumpkin. The sentiments are stamped in gold pigment ink and all are from the Thankful and Blessed Stamp Set. 

You can see some of the beautiful embossed details in this photo....I am so happy I have such beautiful products to create with!

The leaves were created by first stenciling the base of each leaf using the Autumn Herbarium Stamp + Stencil. Once that was done, I used the Autumn Herbarium Die to cut the leaves out. I opted not to do any of the stamped details, but rather kept everything light and airy. I placed them one by one into the Autumn Herbarium Embossing Folder picking and choosing which pieces I wanted to use.I tucked them behind the pumpkin here and there until I was satisfied with the arrangement. I spritzed it with shimmer spray-sparkle and added some Rocky Candy glitter to the leaves and pumpkins. I covered up the main portion of the sentiment with a sticky note and then added some vintage photo distress ink splatter for additional interest and detail.   The final addition is an antique gold bow placed at the bottom of the pumpkin using the Regency Bow No. 1 Die.  I created a card base placing the shortbread die on the fold of the die and added the entire panel using liquid glue.

Papertrey Ink Project Inspiration {Hello Fall}

Hello and welcome! It's my turn for this week's Project Inspiration feature from Papertrey Ink ! It's been raining and thundering today, just perfect for creating a card like this! I have step-by-step photos on how I created this card. 

This card was such a joy to create!

Step 1: Cut an A2 panel of Honey Nut cardstock and blend Honey Nut ink around the 4 corners. Foil the panel with Copper Foil using the Fallen Leaves Hot Foil Plate.

Step 2: Use the Wandering Petals Stencil Collection on a piece of Vintage Cream cardstock for both steps. Add some brown ink splatter, and then cut it out using the largest size included in the Love to Layer: Scalloped Ovals. Stamp the "hello Fall" sentiment in black using the Just Sentiments: Happy Fall Stamp Set. If you like more simple designs, you could actually stop here and call it done!

Step 3: attach the oval to the background panel. Step 4: Cut leaves and berries using the  Into the Blooms: Christmas Sprigs Die. Color them with ink and arrange around the oval using liquid glue and foam squares. Cut the pieces for the pumpkin using the Into the Blooms: Fall Boot Die. 

Step 5: cut the pieces for the bird from white cardstock using the So Tweet Die.  Attach it to the foliage.

Step 6: Add glitter for sparkle and shine!

Step 7: Adhere the entire panel to an A2 card base.

I'll share a few additional details on how I created this card. I like to use finger daubers for the bird because it gives me better control for smaller areas. Also, the eye placement and white dot placement are really important for making the bird appear more realistic. 

For the bluish green leaves, I tore the main sprig apart so I could tuck them here and there to balance the color.

For the berry sprig, I colored it using two shades of red ink and then took a brush marker to add in the brown on the stem. I also added the dots and used a white get pen for some highlights. It really does enhance the overall look of the branch.

I used a 2way glue pen when I add glitter because it gives me control to add it lightly here and there and there isn't any gloppy mess.

Papertrey Ink July Release Countdown Day 2

It's day 2 of the Papertrey Ink July release countdown! Thank you so much for your sweet comments on yesterday's post! I have two cards to share with you today using some fun new products! My first card showcases the new Adventure Away Stamp/Die set paired with a fun new stencil collection called Incredible Views.

To begin, I used the stencil collection to build the scene using a sunset color combination. These stencils are very easy to use and create a stunning background in no time!

I stamped the compass image directly onto the panel to give a transparent look because I didn't want to cover up the gorgeous landscape. There is a coordinating Adventure Away Hot Foil Plate (you can see it in the upper right corner of the photo), but I didn't end up using it on this card. 

The RV is a line-art image so I added some alcohol marker color. I like that the sentiments have coordinating dies so layer the sentiment portion.

I can't stop with the acetate sentiment overlay! ha ha! This card features the new Cornered: Celestial dies in the upper left corner and lower right corner.

To begin this card, I used Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, and Unchartered Mariner Distress Oxide inks to blend on an A2 panel of white cardstock. Once that was done, I used the Stargazing Hot Foil Plate and gold foil over the top. I also splattered the panel with metallic watercolor paint for added depth.

Once the panel was complete, I used the Cornered: Celestial Dies and then layered the panel on top of an A2 white card base.

I die cut the stars using the Starry Delight Die from gold metallic cardstock and then added them to the blended panel using foam squares.

I chose to use the Psalm Reflections: September stamp set on an acetate panel like I did on yesterday's card. I stamped it using Jet Black StazOn Ink on a piece of acetate and then added glue strategically to the back of some of the letters that would touch one of the stars. I placed a large acrylic block over the top and let it set. I also added quite a few sequins for added sparkle and shine! Thanks for fluttering by!

 

Papertrey Ink July Release Countdown Day 1

Hello and welcome friends! It's day 1 of the Papertrey Ink July release countdown! I'm absolutely head-over-heels in love with the new Bigger Blooms: Zinnia dies! I have two beautiful bunches in my yard this year and I admire them every morning when I do my watering, so it was fun to make these paper versions!

My card also features the new Reflections: July stamp set! I really like this month's installment because of the beautiful fonts!

The Bigger Blooms: Zinnia die comes with dies to make two different sized flowers. I ended up using the smaller size on the larger bloom as well for a fuller look.

I die cut them from white cardstock and then colored the pieces using assorted distress oxide inks. I used both liquid glue and foam squares to assemble the blooms.

I originally planned on making a mini-slimline card so I cut the white panel measuring 3 1/4 by 5 3/4 and then used the Watercolor Wonderful Stencil Collection to add some color to the background. I added the three flowers using liquid glue and foam squares for the leaves.

I stamped the scripture using Jet Black StazOn ink on a piece of acetate. I placed the two yellow petals strategically over the acetate with glue and then added some liquid glue strategically behind the "in Him" and "Joy and Peace" portion of the sentiment and then added an acrylic block over the top while it dried.

I always love using acetate and StazOn ink on my cards, but don't do it nearly as much as I used to! I added the entire panel to an oddly-sized Raspberry Fizz card base using foam squares! ha ha! I stamped the sentiment again and then die cut it using the Reflections: July die and added it to the inside. I wanted to reinforce the verse and gussy up the inside! Thanks for fluttering by!
