Our Friendship is Baked With Love

Hello, friends!! I'm happy to be here today sharing a fun, summery card inspired by one of my summer reads this year! It's sort of a funny story, really; I was scrolling through Pinterest one day and the cover of a book popped up in my feed and it inspired me right away for a card design! The title of the Book is: The Summer of a Thousand Pies and  I didn't intend on reading the book, only using it's lovely cover art as inspiration....it's just SO cute! Anyway, the next time I went to the library, I checked it out! ha ha! It turned out to be a children's book, which I didn't realize, but it was still a fun read! That being said, I read the book, returned it to the library and forgot all about making a card based on the cover! I took a screenshot of the cover once I was done so I could add it to my digital log of reading for the year and saw it again the other day when I was deleting old photos! I remembered the whole reason I had it was to make a card! ha ha! Silly me!

I thought it would be a fitting card for August, especially with pie baking contests happening for county and state fairs! What do you think...should these pies win the blue ribbon? LOL!
Since I was using the book as inspiration, it really was just a matter of pulling the different die sets to bring this card to life. For the pies, I used the darling Picnic Time Die that was released last year. The strawberries, however, are from the Sweet Celebration Die set, which is always a favorite! the leaf in the upper lefthand corner with the coneflower over the top is also part of that set.

I cut a bunch of extra blueberries to fill the pie up to make it look more real. I cut two lattice pieces and then added the outer crust piece over the pie.  The strawberry pie was created by adding ink to the center portion of the crust die cut. I used Pale Peony and Raspberry Fizz ink and then added some Raspberry Fizz ink splatter to create the illusion of a fruity filling. I placed the two strawberries over the top for additional detail. I spritzed the pies with shimmer spray and added glitter for sugary sweetness!

The coneflowers and larger daisies are from the Into the Blooms: Daisies and the smaller daisy is from the Into the Blooms: Wild Wood Die along with the two leaves on the right side by the stand-alone berry. The other leaves are from the Into the Blooms: Clover Die.
The background was created by cutting an A2 panel of Spring Rain cardstock and then adding some Blueberry Sky ink around the edges along with some ink splatter. I used the Fall Harvest Hot Foil Plate and champagne foil to really take it up a notch!

I gave the berries some additional detail with a white gel pen to make the seeds pop. The sentiment, which is from the Seasoned With Love Stamp set, is stamped in black on a white strip of cardstock. I added it over the blueberry pie with foam squares and then mounted the background panel onto a top-folding A2 card base using liquid glue! I'm glad I FINALLY got this card made! Thanks for fluttering by!
