Hello friends! It's my turn for this weekend's Project Inspiration feature for Papertrey Ink! I always love this feature because it allows me to use whatever is speaking to me at the moment!
Most often when I start a card design, I don’t always have a specific sentiment in mind. This card idea was completely the opposite; I have been wanting to use this cute sentiment and decided to create a card inspired by it. You could definitely switch up the colors and make it a winter card if you’ve already moved on from autumn!
I've also been itching to make an autumn card with these colors; so often I get trapped in the orange/yellow color palette, so this was a fun alternative and I just love how it turned out!
This card comes together in six steps and I will walk you through the process with detailed photos and instructions!
Step 1: Prepare a 5“ x 7“ Vintage Cream card base. Adhere the frame cut from Scarlet Jewel card stock, which is from the In Frames: Big & Tall Rectangles Die, using foam squares.
Step 2: stencil the crochet pattern using the Simple Stitch Crochet-Large Stencil Collection onto a die cut panel of Autumn Rose cardstock using Scarlet Jewel ink. Glue it to the card base using liquid glue.
Step 3: cut the hat and all of the accent pieces using the Build-a-Hat Die. Add ink blending as well as the crochet pattern using the Simple Stitch Crochet-Small Stencil Collection to the top of the hat. Assemble the hat using foam squares and liquid glue. Adhere it to the card front using foam squares for dimension.
Step 4: Heat emboss the sentiment, which is from the Just Sentiments: Happy Fall Mini Stamp Set and cut it out using the Hold That Thought Die. Add it to the card front with foam squares.
Step 5: cut and color all of the leaves using the Christmas Sprigs Die. Spritz them with Hickory Smoke Distress Spritz and allow them to dry. Arrange them around the hat using foam squares and liquid glue.
Step 6: add glitter to the foliage and sequins to the dot details on the hat.
I had so much fun blending colors on all of the leaves; one of my favorite color combinations is the large leaf on the left; Autumn Rose, Royal Velvet and a touch of Canyon Clay on the tips. I also really love the cool tones of the Stormy Sea/Ocean Tides leaf as well!
The hat is cut from Sweet Blush cardstock and then the pieces are blended with Autumn Rose, including the cute little zig-zag piece. I just gave it a lot of ink to completely cover it. The pompom is cut from Vintage Cream cardstock with Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink to give it some depth.
I had so much fun creating this card! I've been enjoying all of the turning leaves on my walk each morning, so it was fun to create my own! Thanks for fluttering by!
