Papertrey Ink August Release Countdown Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of the Papertrey Ink August release countdown! I have two projects to share with you today using some FABULOUS new products! Up first is my card using the new Sweet as Pie dies....I can't wait to make all kinds of pie cards throughout the year!

This die set comes with everything you need to make any type of pie you can think of! I went with a pumpkin pie, just fitting for the upcoming season! I did take some creative liberties with my pie, but that's the great thing about creating with paper....anything goes! ha ha!

For the background, I used the new Fall Harvest Hot Foil Plate (once again sneaking it in early) with gold foil on a canyon clay background panel. Before I did the foiling, I added some terracotta tile ink around the four corners.

I thought this sentiment, which is from the Thankful for Fall Sentiments, was perfect for this pie card! I stamped it on an Love to Layer: Arches panel that was die cut from a piece of gingham pattern paper. It's from a Recollections Christmas Spice paper pad that I've had for a few years!

I stamped the sentiment using Ripe Avocado ink, added the pie and then some foliage die cut using Into the Blooms: Christmas Sprigs dies and colored using ink pads and blender brushes. I layered it all up around the pie using both liquid glue and foam squares. I had quite a bit of fun with those two sprigs of berries using ink, alcohol markers, and a white gel pen. I added a generous dusting of glitter for some sugary sweetness!

My next card features the new Cornered: Sunflower die and the new Reflections: August stamp set and die!

I really like this particular scripture. I heat embossed it in detail white onto a piece of Aqua Mist cardstock and then cut it out using the largest die in the Reflections: August die set.

I had a bit of fun with the size of this card; I wanted to be able to use the Cornered: Sunflower die at both the top and the bottom of the card AND use the scripture with its coordinating die.

I used a few flowers from the Into the Blooms: Wreath die set and the cute bees from the Berry Best Mom stamp set.

Papertrey Ink August Release Countdown Day 1

Welcome to day 1 of the Papertrey Ink August release countdown! Fall is going to be here before we know it so this release is full of fun, new autumn stamps/dies! My first card for today features the adorable new In Stitches: Halloween stamp/die set paired with the new Cover Plate: Handmade Quilt die. I also snuck in the new Fall Harvest Hot Foil Plate, but it won't be showcased for a few more days....I just simply couldn't resist using it as a frame for this card!

To begin, I used the Fall Harvest Hot Foil Plate on an A2 sized piece of Sweet Blush cardstock using gold foil. I really like that this particular plate is just a frame so it reduces the risk of over-foiling in the middle!

I added some Sweet Blush ink around the edges and adhered it to a top-folding A2 white card base using liquid glue. I ran another piece of Sweet Blush cardstock through my die cut machine along with the new Cover Plate: Handmade Quilt die. Once that was done, I cut it out using the Love to Layer: Charming Brackets die. 

I die cut the ghost, moon, witches hat, Boo! and the flowers from white cardstock. I stamped the ghost's "stitches" using Soft Stone ink for a subtle look. I used the cheek and eye stamps included in the set, but then added my own mouth using a fine-tip black marker. The stamp set includes a few mouth options, but this is the look I was going for. I used the stitches for the moon as well, but just used a blender brush and Harvest Gold ink to color it in.  I didn't want the white outline that the stamp would have provided. I added the flowers and leaves, glitter, and sequins to finish off this Halloween design!

My second card for today features the new Sunflower Garden Stencil Collection, the new This Is Big Sentiments: Thankful stamp set, and the new Love to Layer: Pinked Squares.

I actually ended up making two identical cards because I like creating multiple panels when I have my stencils out.

Rather than cutting the Pinked Squares apart (which I will do) I left them wired together to create this pinked frame. It was just perfect to highlight the sentiment.

I kept the die cut flowers the same colors that I used on the stenciled panel for continuity.

There are dies for the two different large "thankful" sentiments; I chose to use the bold image, but there is also a beautiful script font as well!

The Greetery {Sweet as Honey}

 

Hello and welcome, friends! I'm happy to "bee" here today with a pair of bright and sunny cards just fitting for the summer season! I have a bee-themed thank you gift I need a thank you card for and I just found out my son’s new 5^th grade teacher’s favorite flower is the sunflower, so you can see where this is headed! Ha ha!  I used quite a potpourri of products and I will explain each step of the way, so let’s get started!  ****update****The Greetery is having a summer sale! You can find it HERE!!

To begin, I got to work on the bees; I oftentimes like just sitting down to create groupings of different elements and then I just have fun mixing things up as I create! I used the Honey Bees Die for each of the three sizes of bees. I added two layers of wings on the larger bee: one out of white cardstock and one from vellum. I die cut everything else from white cardstock and then used finger daubers and assorted distress oxide inks to color the bees. I used liquid glue to put them all together. The largest bee has some Nuvo Crystal Glaze over the black body portion. I set the bees aside and got to work on the background.

For the two backgrounds, I used the Seed Catalog Background Stamp on an A2 panel of Lemon Tart cardstock. I have found that I like laying the cling rubber background stamps face up in my MISTI and then lay the cardstock over the top and secure it to the lid using washi tape. I simply add the paper over the stamp exactly where I want it, add a rolled piece of washi tape and then swing the lid down to catch the panel. I have also started to use a mini brayer to smooth out the ink on the background stamps for even coverage. I also added the honeycomb pattern to the corners of each of the background panels using the Buzz-Worthy Sentiments stamp set.

I die cut two of the third-to-largest arches included in the A2 Arches Die die from white cardstock. I added some tumbled glass distress oxide ink to the center of each arch. For the “Bee Kind” card, I stamped the “always” portion of the sentiment at the top of the arch and then added the greenery which is die cut using the Garden Tub Filler Die. I colored it with finger daubers and inks like I always do! Ha ha! I adhered it to the arch using foam squares. I also added some flowers from the BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix die….they are the perfect size to accent the greenery. I used the Buzzy Bits to add the honeycomb centers to the flowers. That big bee is added to the greenery using additional foam squares as well as the “Bee Kind” sentiment. I added the entire thing to the background (which I ended up trimming down ¼ inch and added it to an A2 white card base.

My sunflower card uses the same arch as I mentioned earlier. I used the Magnolia Wreath Die as an unexpected backdrop for the sunflowers. I stamped the “sweet as” portion at the top of the arch, just like I did on the first card. I used the BotaniCuts Sunflower Die die for the flowers; I added some colored pencil detail on the petals for added realism.  I realized I have either lost or misplaced the center dies for the smaller sunflowers so I had an unexpected “make it work” moment! Ugh! I’m hoping the recipient won’t even notice! Ha ha!

I assembled this card the same way as the first card. I haven’t been in a glittery mood lately (who am I?) but I did want some shine so I added some Shimmer Spray to the top of both cards! I’m so happy with how they both turned out and I can’t wait to give them to their recipients! Thanks for fluttering by!

The Greetery These are the Days Collection Release Day

Hello friends! I hope your week is off to a great start! Thank you so much for all of your sweet comments on yesterday's post! Today is the day that the These are the Days Collection is available for purchase starting at 10 am EDT! I have a bonus card to share with you today as well!

I was invited to a baby shower coming up in August and I thought it would be fun to make a card for the mom-to-be using the new calendar themed items! Since we don't know exactly WHEN the baby will be born, I thought it would be fun to make a shower card with her due date!

I loved some of the darker, moody calendar cards Betsy made for the release so I thought I would start with a darker panel for the calendar.

To begin, I used the Calendar Grid dies to cut the grid. I used the same popped up date like I did on the card I shared yesterday. I simply saved one of the pieces from the grid and stamped the date using the Calendar Basics stamp set.

Since the mom-to-be is expecting a baby girl, I chose some pink flowers to add to the calendar. There is an awesome sentiment from the "One Fine Day" stamp set that talks about the day you were born, so that would be perfect for a baby card once the baby is born, or for birthdays!

I used silver metallic ink for the September and "you'll remember always" sentiment.

I die cut the spiral binding and hanger from gold cardstock and added them with scotch tape to the back to add the binding and then liquid glue to add the hanger to the spirals.

I layered the calendar on a pink card base using foam squares.

The Greetery These are the Days Collection

Hello and welcome, friends! I've been busy as a little bee working on all kinds of fun projects and I'm so happy to finally be able to share them with you! Today I have 3 projects to share with you using all of the beautiful new products from the These are the Days Collection from The Greetery! As you've probably gathered, this collection is calendar-themed which is so fun and unique! They are being released just in time to get started on all of those handmade Christmas gifts we all love to create!

My first project is a 2024 floral desk calendar for my upcoming 5th grader to give to his teacher. It begins at August and ends with December. I will make her a new one for 2025 and have my son give it to her as part of her Christmas gift!

I used the new Calendar Basics stamp set to create each of the calendars for the month. As you can see here, I used the circle image and "Big Day" sentiment to highlight the first of school that is approaching WAY too quickly! eek! 

This project is easy to put together in assembly line fashion! To begin, I stamped the grid image using the Calendar Basics stamp set and Hickory Smoke distress oxide ink on white A2 panels. I used my MISTI to make quick work of this part. Once the panels were stamped, I used the Jumbo Jar Die to cut each of the calendar months. I used the Calendar Grid stencil to add color to each of the months. I had previously stamped ALL of the Birth Month Blooms flowers so I was able to decide which color stenciling I wanted to do based on which flower would coincide with that month. Hopefully that makes sense!

I tucked the flowers into the jars and secured them with liquid glue. I alternated them from one side to the other so that when they are stacked up the display would be full and beautiful. If you look at the full calendar all put together, you will see some violets popping out on the right-hand side; I added those to a blank jar panel to the back to give the calendar more symmetry and additional color .

I was pleased to find some wood blocks to use as the calendar stand and you can find them HERE. They are a good price and I will be able to give calendars as gifts as needed! The cover was created using the previously released Bold Numbers Die to make the 2024. I added some flowers using the BotaniCuts: Wildflower Mix dies and the Winter Medley Die. The Greetery is also offering some pre-printed 2025 calendar pages and I used the cover as inspiration for this cover.

My next project is a birthday card I just made for my daughter who celebrated her birthday on the 22nd! I just love how you can make your projects so personalized with these new products! This card features the Calendar Grid Die paired with the Spiral Bound die, (this gives you the option of creating faux spirals like I did here, or to make the holes to add the real spiral binding on an actual calendar) Birth Month Blooms, and the new One Fine Day stamp/die set.

One of my favorite flowers in the collection is the Larkspur and I was pleasantly delighted to find out it is July's flower! Yay! I had already told myself I would use it no matter which month it was for! ha ha! I added in a few other month's flowers to give it variety and additional color!

To give the calendar personalization, I added the 22 that was stamped using the Calendar Basics stamp set on a rectangle that was cut when I die cut the grid. I popped it into the proper space using a min foam square.

I used metallic cardstock for both the spiral binding and the cute hanger at the top.

My cute daughter kept leaving comments on my Instagram posts (if it was a birthday card) saying, "Can this be my birthday card?" so I was worried she would be disappointed she didn't get one that she commented on, but she LOVED this one and said she liked it best!

My final project for today is a fun notecard set using the different Birth Month Blooms. I haven't mentioned before, but each of the Birth Month Blooms are compiled in quarters. There is a Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 stamp/die set so you can buy them as you need them or for those months where loved ones have special days. 

I had set out at the beginning of my creative sessions by stamping all of the flowers multiple times so I would have a good variety of images to pick from as I was creating! Doing that made this project go much quicker than if I stamped them all out one by one.

Here you can see a few of the different varieties with their coordinating envelopes.

 I have made and shown this stationery box a few times over the years, but for those who may be new, I will share the dimensions. The bottom of the box is made using a piece of cardstock measuring 8 1/2 by 10 and then score at two inches in from each side. The top is made using a piece of cardstock measuring 7 1/8 by 8 5/8 and score on each side 1 1/4 inches from the edges.  Use a bone folder and cut tabs on the four sides and secure with ScorTape.

As I mentioned before, this box holds nine cards, so I wasn't able to get a full year of cards. I used foam squares for each of the cards so if you made them flat, you could possibly get 12 in there. I also want to mention that the shop will also be offering some Birth Month Blooms Cutables so you can save some time using those as well. They would be perfect if you're planning on making a bunch of gifts for Christmas and you find yourself in a pinch!
