I hope everyone is having a fabulous 2017! I can't believe January is more than halfway through. One of my resolutions was to blog more (hangs head in shame) but everyday is a new beginning, so I'm not going to let it get me down! My creative wheels have been turning and I am getting excited to start my Valentine's Day crafting.
It's snowing today and I've got a little one home sick from school so I thought I'd sneak a little time to show you a simple baby design I made during the Christmas break. There's been a few baby boys born to friends of mine so I have been busy sewing and crafting for them. I didn't take any pictures of the things I sewed that went along with this card, but I did take some of the second batch I did. I will share those in the coming days.
I started my design by sponging blue ink onto watercolor paper, focusing on the center. After I was done with the sponging, I spritzed some water onto it to give it some extra interest. The bear was stamped and diecut using the "Baby Button Bits" set and dies. It's an oldie, but goodie. I actually thought I was feeling content with my baby collection, but I think it could use some refreshing. As soon as some baby sets catch my attention, I'll definitely be buying them. The "hello" sentiment was diecut multiple times from Stamper's Select cardstock and then glued together. I then applied Glossy Accents for some shine. I also added the crystal pebbles to keep the same watery shine. I really like how these elements keep the design cohesive, especially with the water spritzing.
The "Welcome little one" sentiment is from "Bitty Baby Blessings" and again, I seem to always use it. If you have any baby sets that you LOVE, please feel free to leave me a comment to recommend it. The machine stitching along the sentiment panel adds some extra interest and keeps it cohesive with all of the hand stitched pieces I included with the gift. I added a double length of brown baker's twine and tied it in a simple bow to "halo" the focal image. The new mommy loved her gift and I am so glad! Thanks for fluttering by!
