The Dazzling Diamond Devil

Last night while I was making dinner my son came up from downstairs and said, "Mom, why is there glitter all over the floor and couches? My mind was reeling. I had no idea why there would be glitter all over. I know I like to add it to a lot of my cards, but I don't go *that* crazy! I ran downstairs to see a horrifying sight. My daugther had *completely* dusted my entire basement, including my stamp area, with Dazzling Diamonds. My basement was sparkling! I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry, so I yelled...LOUD! LOL! Most of the places had more than a *dusting* but rather piles. My keyboard had it dumped down in all of the keys, my drawers in my desk that had been left open had a generous amount sprinkled in them, the carpet, the tile, my clip-it up, etc. I don't think I need to go on...I am sure you get the picture. My daugther knew how mad I was at her; she promptly placed herself on the naughty step and began crying. My husband rushed down and took over the cleaning details and asked me to finish dinner. We sat and ate while I grilled my daughter about why she did it. She just cried and said she didn't know. This is absolutely the naughtiest thing she has ever done. The weird part is that she *never* gets into my stuff. She asks before getting anything. I calmed down and went down and finished the tedious task. Let's just say my basement will be sparkling for some time. Once I had calmed down, it really did seem funny. The funniest part was when I went down to discover it, Mary Poppins was singing "Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!" on the TV. Maybe it was the song that inspired my daughter to add *spoonfulls* of glitter all over! I asked her where the container was and she said she had put it back. I checked and sure enough she had put it back but left a large pile in there, too. Now...here is the part that make me scratch my head. The jar still had 1/4 to 1/2 of it left. I used to say at my SU! workshops that your glitter and embossing powders would last a life-time unless your kids got into them. Apparantly they will last a life time even if they do! LOL!

So....you may be wondering what this card has to do with any of this. I wasn't the nicest mom last night and my daughter really is a cutie, so I made her this "Honey the Pooh" card for her. That is what she calls Winnie the Pooh. I keep telling her that it isn't "Honey the Pooh" , but she keeps calling him that. I followed this week's mojo monday sketch challenge that you can check out Here. I traded in the small square for the circle. I used my new "hundred hearts" set fromVerve and the Pooh image is from an old foam mounted set I got back in 1999 before my son was born. I threw away the flimsy packaging it came in, so I don't have any info. Sorry. I colored the image with prismacolor and copic markers, cut it out and mounted it onto a scallop circle. I used my nestablities to create the focal piece using various sizes. I stamped another black heart under the pink heart, but I didn't like it so I added a button over the top!

I kept the details to a minimum since it will probably end up in the trash. I just wanted my daughter to know how much I Love her, despite yesterday's antics! Thanks for fluttering by!

Stamps: Hundred Hearts by Verve
Winnie the Pooh (unkown)
Ink: Palette Noir, Berry Sorbet from PTI, copic and prismacolor markers
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, My Mind's Eye
Accessories: Nestabilities, scallop circle punch, sewing machine and thread, button from my stash, linen thread, glue dots, foam squares, satin ribbon

Your card is so cute! And, that story, priceless!!! My daughter isn't mobile yet, but I'm wondering what kind of "goodies" I'll get to look forward to! :)

Yikes! I think I would have had a heart attack!!! But I bet it really was "pretty and sparkly". :) I don't know how old your daughter is but when my son was younger he always wanted to get into MY stuff. I cut him a deal ;) if he stayed out of MY stuff, I would make him up a drawer of his own that I would stay out of!! I filled it with lots fo fun stuff for him to "craft" with and every once in a while (it he kept to his part of the deal) he would find little surprises in there for being so good and respecting my belongings. Worked like a charm!! Thanks for sharing all your beautiful cards.

aww thanks for sharing your story! I have three daughters and have had a few of these head scratching
naughty bursts too. My youngest most recently
did much the same only with pearl ex
powder. My chocolate leather couch has a sheen to it these days LOL! Bless you for your forgiveness of your daughter!

Oh my. Yes, my daughter's favorite disaster-tool is the almost powdery parmesan cheese. Incase you wondered, its the smell you can't get rid of there, sooo glitter is better...? lol!
I love the card tho! Very sweet!

Your story almost made me cry. Just because you are a sweet mom to care so much about your daughter that after a bad experience for both of you, you were so thoughtful to make a cute card for her! I love it and I'm off to hug my little one. That pooh stamp is just adorable!

Oh my...flashback. My grandson emptied all of my daughters glitters & embossing powders onto the carpet and into all her stamp pads which he had opened up. Not one foot away sat his daddy (with his back to the little munchkin) working on the computer. Of course I freaked knowing the cost of all this. My son vacuumed it all up to find there was NO BAG in the vacuum. Oh what a mess so.....I hear you girl!

Oh Kelly! I wish I could see the look on her face as she was playing the magic dust fairy!! Too bad she had to come back to reality when her brother told on her! Too funny! This card is just so precious! The saying and the pooh theme melts my heart and you know how I love the MME paper! You put everything together so well!!

How funny. Though I'm sure it wasn't at the time. But, really, if that's the naughtiest thing she's ever done - or ever does - I hope you consider yourself VERY blessed.

The card you made her is adorable.

Awww...you are such a good mommy!!! I need to be nicer to my kids after I blow up at them. Like your DD, mine haven't done much that really is bad and they don't get into my things. I guess it's important to keep some perspective. At least it wasn't StazOn re-inker or something she was dabbling everywhere!!! Sparkly and NOT permanant is always good ;)

Gorgeous card!!!!
