A Note of Thanks SFYTT

I hope you all are having a wonderful Saturday! I can't believe how fast the weeks fly by! I was in the mood to use up some more of my DSP, so I decided to use this "Raspberry Tart" variety. I fell in love with it and pre-ordered two packages when it was first available. I don't think I have even opened the second package. I think I may be planning a Stamp-a-stack soon to get some of this paper used up! LOL!

I knew I wanted to use this butterfly set, so I just took the colors from the paper. The paper does all the work with minimal stamping. I did add a little sparkle to the butterflies using crystal effects and a sprinkle of Chunky Essentials glitter. I finished it off with a taffeta bow and called it good. The pattern paper is so busy that I decided to keep the embellishments minimal.

I love it when the butterflies are bent so they look like they are in flight. I just bend them in half and then apply them with crystal effects. That way they have a nice, strong hold and I don't worry about them coming off. Of course they would get squished if you put it in an envelope, but could easily be bent up again.

Mojo Friend

As you can see, there is a new camera in the house. I felt lost without one. I am still getting used to it, so bear with me. These were the first photos I took with it, so I still need to experiment with it, etc. They look kindof blurry to me, so hopefully I can get the kinks worked out.

This is the card that I made using this week's Mojo Monday sketch. I needed a card to thank my friend who watched the girls for me so that I could go on my son's field trip. This fun little set called Dear Friend from SU! will soon be retiring, so I thought that I would use it. I am actually a little afraid to see all that will be retiring. LOL!

I also used some of the beautiful ribbon that Brandi sent me from her E-bay store called "My Little Ribbon Shop". You can link to the store from the icon on my sidebar. I love how wide it is and how nicely it ties. It matches Pink Pirouette perfectly, which I used on my card. I colored my image first and then picked the papers, which is something I usually don't do, but the colors ended up working nicely with this "Bella Birds" DSP. I am sure this will be retiring, too, since it has In Colors on it. I have tried to be better about using up my DSP so that I don't accumulate too much, but I fear I still have a lot left.

I won't be attending SU!'s Convention this year, but recieved my 5 year pin in the mail last week. I guess I won't be doing my 5 year march. Maybe one of you who is going can go up in my place! LOL!

Now that I have a camera, I will be sharing things on a more regular basis. I really didn't mean to let my blog go like this! I promise I am back! LOL! Thanks for fluttering by!

Bye Bye Camera!

I was so excited to share a new design with you today, but my camera took an unfortunate path to death. I made the mistake of taking it with me on Splash Mountain when we were in Disneyland. I got soaked, to put it mildly,as well as the camera. We eventually got it working again, but each time I take a photo I have to take the batteries out and put them back in. Frustrating, but do-able. Today, however, it refused to work. This is not good, especially with design deadlines looming! I guess I am headed out to go buy a new camera!

It's Your Day SFYTT

So... that is officially the longest I have gone without stamping! I was able to clear away the mess from last week's SFYTT card to create this week's SFYTT card. I am *finally* starting to feel like myself again. Thank you so much for all of your well wishes. You are all so good to me!

We have a birthday party to go to tomorrow for two of my nephews. They are having a Robot themed birthday, so I decided to combine this week's sketch and my need for two Robot cards. I think this is the first time I have inked up this little guy from "Toy Box". I love that set and it has been so handy for so many occasions. I actually think I used this set for their cards last year. I was also excited to be able to pair it with the new "Star Prints" set from Papertrey Ink. I used two of the sentiments and one of the stars. I really liked making similar cards for the boys, but changing up a few things on each. I decided since they looked so much alike, that I would add their initials to the side panel.

I kept them simple and opted for fewer embellishments. You never know where little kid cards will end up. LOL!

More Papertrey Ink

This is a bitter-sweet post for me! I have had so much fun over the past two months being Papertrey Ink's Distinguished Guest Designer. I would like to thank Nichole for giving me such a wonderful opportunity. Papertrey Ink, since day one, has been one of my all-time favorites. So...with that being said, why not share some more Papertrey Ink goodness.

When I first saw the new "Bird Watching" set, I was giddy! It is so cute! There is also a "Bird Watching Additions" set as well. I can't wait to play with it some more, especially when I am feeling better. This *bug* really has me beat and I just want to thank all of you get-well-wishers! You are all so sweet!

I have missed out on quite a few of my favorite challenges the last little bit, so this card started out being a past Mojo Monday sketch, but I never seem to follow the rules! LOL!

I used my oval, scalloped oval and ribbon label nestabilities. I love these! I added a few buttons threaded with Kraft cardstock and applied them with glue dots. I added a simple spring moss satin bow for the finishing touch.

For my next project, I used the new set designed by Nichole herself "Star Prints". I was browsing through the latest issue of Pottery Barn Kids and was inspired by one of the bedding sets for baby. This card is a result of that inspiration. I wanted to keep it clean and crisp, yet detailed. I decided to add different layers, dimensions and textures to achieve this look.

I embossed the star with silver embossing powder to give it some shine. I also added a button threaded with chrochet thread. I stamped the twinkle sentiment repeatedly, purposefully leaving off the "little" portion, across a strip of Soft Stone cardstock. I did the same with the tiny star image stamped in Spring Rain.I love the fonts that Nichole chose for this set. I added some Fresh Snow Topnotch Twill ribbon for the finishing touch.

For my final project, I used Lisa Johnson's new set called "Let Freedom Ring". I really like how versatile it is and can be used for tons more than just the fourth of July. With summer on it's way, I decided to make a 4th of July card. I knew I wanted some Vintage touches, so I sponged everything with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. By the way...did you see the great new inkpads that Papertrey has come out with for creating distressed edges? I can't wait to try them out! I also used two other new sets called "Background Basics: Text Style" and "Fancy Flourishes". I can see me reaching for these again and again.

I created the ribbon *bunting* by baste stitching a 12 inch or so length of ribbon, pulling it tight and then securing it with glue dots. I had a lot of fun with this design, especially using the flourishes. I think they add such whimsy and charm.

Again, I had so much fun and I am glad I get to stick around to continue to work on the My Timless Template Team. Thanks for fluttering by!
