Hello and welcome! It's the MOST WONDERFUL time of the month! I know this is a favorite time for so many as we're all chomping at the bit to see what fabulous things that The Greetery has in store for us! The new "Love Letters" release is sure to steal your heart as it has stolen mine! I'm completely in Valentine's Day mode, so you'll see that reflected in my projects, but these products transcend beyond to give you year-round possibilities! You'll want to make sure you head to the other designers' blogs as well because we all bring our own unique spin on things to really give you a good scope of how you could use these products as well! Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win a $50 gift card to The Greetery shop!
Kelly Lunceford (you are here)
I have these two cards to share with you today along with a set of gift/treat boxes that I will be sharing down below. I've combined all of the products from day 1 onto these project because they are just that good! I just wish I had more hours to keep going! ha ha!
My first order of business was to see how the new Windowpane Plaid Background would delight me...and it didn't disappoint...AT ALL! You will see it on many projects between now and tomorrow so be prepared! LOL! For this first card, I stamped the background in Red ink onto a panel of pink cardstock. I love the small detail in this stamp that make it almost appear to be fabric. I layered the pink piece onto a panel of red cardstock that was die cut using the new Postal Frames Die. Now, you might say to yourself that you already own a postal frame die, so what sets this one apart? Let me tell you; it also includes extra dies to take your postal themed cards from ok, to extraordinary!
I also added a stamped "stamp" (ha ha!) from the new Pretty Postmarks stamp set along with the "cancelled" images as well!I love how realistic it looks! The flowers and foliage for both of these cards comes from the Signed and Sealed with a Kiss stamp set and are perfect accents for both of these cards.
I heat embossed the scripted sentiment using gold powder onto vellum and wrapped it around the pink and red layer and secured it in the back with clear tape for security. I added a few other details like the wax seal from the Signed and Sealed with a Kiss stamp set.
This next design is similar in layout and feel of the other one, but I used a different flower and omitted the background. A few sparkling clear sequins finish it off for some sparkle!
Both of these cards are layered up onto top folding A2 card bases using foam squares for added dimension. One of my favorite things about the sentiments from The Greetery is that many of them have coordinating dies like this "Be Mine, Valentine" image.
Last, but not least, are a set of shaped boxes using even more goodies from the Love Letters collection! As you can see, I heat embossed the Windowpane Plaid background to really give it a different feeling than just stamping with ink. I love the luxe feel that it gives to this box! In some of the photos, these boxes just look like cards, so...if you like the design, just recreate it for a card and you're good to go!
I was still in the experimental phase with the Windowpane Plaid background so you can see I've continued to use it in all kinds of ways; I did warn you! LOL! I love the little shaped boxes filled with chocolates that come out for Valentine's Day, so I thought it would be fun to make a postage stamp shaped box using the new Postal Frames dies.
This photo gives you a better idea that it's actually a box and not a card. The box measures slightly smaller than the largest of the dies in the collection. It will be perfect to add little love treats or gifts on that special day. I love to give Valentine's gifts to all kinds of special people in my life; not just my husband!
The little envelopes and liners that are included in the Signed and Sealed set are just the cutest things ever and I can't wait to use them for non-Valentine-y projects, too!
Remember when I said that the Postal Frames dies were must haves? The cute "sent with love" detail was created using one of the dies from the collection.
I heat embossed the envelopes to give it that little something extra. The liner is also stamped and die cut and added to the inside. The envelope die has a nice little slit so you can tuck the stamped notes, flowers, or whatever inside!
Once again, my next box is similar in layout with some minor tweaks to change the feeling. By omitting the heat embossed background and opting for a lighter color palette, it really changes the whole feel of the box.
The heart and foliage are from the Signed and Sealed with a Kiss and add just the right touches to the box!
I was able to give the box lots of dimension as you can see in this photo since the box will be a gift rather than a card that would be mailed. That being said, you could still add all of this dimension for a hand delivered card or just minimize the foam squares to keep it less bulky.
I had so much fun working on these projects and I can't wait to give them away next month! Please join me again tomorrow for day 2 of the countdown and don't forget to leave a comment on both days for a chance to win a $50 gift card! Thanks for fluttering by!
