Hello and welcome to this week's Papertrey Ink Saturday Showcase! It's no secret that I love using my large dies to create 3 dimensional gift packaging to give to friends and family. With Teacher Appreciation Week next week and the end of the school year fast approaching, we're turning our crafty thoughts to those deserving teachers! Today I've transformed the Big Apple die into a treat box/ gift card holder combo that any teacher is sure to love! I'll also be revisiting some of the other ways I've used the Big Apple die in the past!
As you can see, I switched things up for a twist on the traditional "teacher's apple" look. I decided to go with pink apples with green accents. I really like how it turned out! My colors were actually inspired by the colors in the Pencil Papers that I decided to use as part of the gift. They are so cute and easy to use and they are a steal of a deal right now, so grab them before they are gone! I love that they are self-adhesive so you just wrap and go!
You can see the side angle of the box a little bit better in this photo. To begin this project, I die cut 6 apples. Each side has 3 apples glued together. I was only planning on having two for stability, but realized that I glued them together before I die cut the portion that holds the gift card! Ugh! Oh well, it is really sturdy now! So....make note, die cut the gift card portion before you start to glue...and make sure you don't glue down the portion that flaps up to hold the gift card.
I created a box to sandwich between the two apples. It is 1 1/2 inches deep and 2 1/2 inches wide. It is made exactly like the box in THIS post if you are interested. I put Werther's soft caramels in a cellophane bag and tied it up with New Leaf ribbon.
The box seems small, but it holds the entire package of caramels, minus one, because I snuck one for myself! LOL! The gift card holder is just a piece of Bitty Big: Green Parakeet pattern paper folded in half to tuck the gift card inside. The awesome sentiment is from the Great Teachers stamp set and is stamped in black in the center so that the flaps don't cover any of it up. I used the Big Apple die for THIS mini album that I love so much!

I also created a 3 by 3 card to tuck in with the gift. It also uses one of the sentiments from the Great Teacher stamp set, but I also used an apple from the School Days stamp set and the coordinating School Days dies. I also created a set of notecards recently that you can see HERE. I had a lot of fun putting this together and I can't wait to give them to my son's preschool teachers. I actually made 2 of everything, since he has two teachers! Thanks for fluttering by!
Absolutely ADORABLE Kelly and I'm totally loving the green and pink as opposed to the more traditional green and red! Any teacher would LOVE this little gift box and card!! :0)
