Traveler's Journal: Nature Journal and Field Notes

***If you're here for my Reverse Confetti Blog Hop post, please scroll down****
Welcome to this month's Papertrey Ink Traveler's Journal post! I am always so excited to share these with you because it means I have been scrapbooking, documenting, and journal keeping! I'm even more excited THIS month, because Heather has come out with an amazing new stamp set to add to the Traveler's Journal Collection! It is called Field Notes and is so amazing and perfect for lots of projects, including my project today! It is available for purchase TODAY!
Last month's project was created especially for my trip to Yellowstone that we took over Memorial Day weekend. If you missed it, you can check it out HERE. THIS month's project is a companion to last month's using the new FIELD NOTES stamp set. You can see the images for this set as well as the other Traveler's Journal Team's projects on the Papertrey Ink BLOG.  You will also see that I used some of the elements that I created last month on today's project! I was so happy to already have them ready to add to my journal!

To begin, I created the cover for my project by using the Traveler's Journal Page Blanks and the new FIELD NOTES stamp set. I used a piece of Simply Chartreuse Bitty Big pattern paper and added the lined notebook image from the new set. I also gold embossed the "nature journal" sentiment as well as the quote. I just love the fonts, images, and details that Heather included in this new set. I will be using it for far more than just my journals...I can see some fabulous cards being made with it as well! The butterfly, daisy, and ladybug images are stamped in black ink and then colored with Copic markers. I used the coordinating die cuts to cut them out. I added them to my cover using foam squares. I really tried hard not to use them too much on the inside because I didn't want the journal to get any thicker than it already will! I have A LOT of pictures! I documented our trip on Instagram @kellyandrory as well, if you are interested!

Heather also included the labels for each of the nature images, like "Monarch Butterfly", etc. I really love the authentic feel it gives~! She didn't skip a beat when designing this new set!

I kept a pretty thorough log of our daily adventures, so it made documenting the trip a breeze! I actually used my MISTI stamping tool to create quite a few of these "field Notes" notecards. I knew that I would be using them on each page, so doing them like this made it go very quickly! I was able to add the "location, date, observations, and notes so easily!
The "all good things are wild and free" sentiment is one of my favorites in the set, partly because I have 4 boys and it fits them all perfectly! LOL! When we were at the Artist Paint Pots, I noticed this cluster of wildflowers blooming out of the top of this old log amidst the boiling and bubbling water! I loved this sentiment paired with this particular image, as well!

As much as I don't like my handwriting, I decided that it was a must for this type of journal. I have been looking through some old family documents and I am thrilled when something has my ancestors actual handwriting, so I am sucking it up for the sake of posterity! LOL! I used some of the pre-made embellishments from last month's project on this page. It was SO  nice to already have them handy!

This next layout is one of my favorites. This is chronologically the first thing we did once entering the park and my boys were full of wonder and delight! They each took a set of binoculars and started looking at the Buffalo and their new calves! It was so fun!

There are a few special details included in this particular layout that are hard to notice from a photo, so hopefully I can explain it a little bit better using words. The blue portion is actually folded like a card, with the fold on the left, so that it can be opened up to expose additional pictures. I loved how the boys looked as they peered through their binoculars, but I also thought it would be fun to show what they were looking AT! This blue page gives the details and a few more of the images included in the FIELD NOTES stamp set. I also included some of the plants that were collected during our trip! DISCLAIMER: THESE WERE NOT TAKEN FROM THE NATIONAL PARK...JUST FROM WEST YELLOWSTONE! I didn't want anyone to think I was doing something illegal!  I knew how nice some actual pressed plants would look in my journal and would really show off Heather's new set.

Once it is opened up, I used another one of my favorite pictures and then the photo of the Buffalo.

I love both of these sentiments so much, but the "a closer look..." couldn't have been more perfect! Right??? I was so happy to have it to use with these photos.

I love how the little ladybug looks crawling across the pressed leaf. I also included a few more of my premade pieces for this layout! Just a reminder...this new set  is going LIVE today and is available for purchase HERE!!! Thanks for fluttering by!
