It's day 2 of the October release countdown for Papertrey Ink and there are so many fun new products being showcased today! I have quite a bit to share today, so get cozy and stay awhile! This release is jam-packed with everything you'll need to get your holiday crafting in high gear! My first three projects feature a darling new die/stencil set called Hang the Lights; I'm a sucker for these large vintage bulbs, so this was a delight to create with!
To begin, I heat embossed the sentiment, which is from the new All About Christmas Stamp/Die set that was featured yesterday, on a piece of Coastal Blue cardstock. I used the coordinating die to cut it out and then mounted it onto the largest mat included in the new Love to Layer: Fancy That Die using foam squares.
I mounted the mat onto a background of Pure Poppy cardstock that was hot foiled using the Fresh Greens Hot Foil Plate with champagne foil. I trimmed it down close to the foiled edge and then mounted it onto an A2 panel of Pure Poppy cardstock.
The bulbs, greenery, and berries are all cut from white cardstock and then colored with dye inks. I used the Hang the Lights stencils to add the designs to the bulbs. The tops are cut from Antique Gold cardstock and then added to the tops with foam squares. I gave everything a spritz of Hickory Smoke Distress Spritz.
I arranged the bulbs underneath the sentiment and then added the foliage and berries until I was happy with the arrangement.
I mounted the entire background panel onto a top-folding A2 card base using liquid glue.
My next card uses traditional bulb colors for a more classic look. I was wanting to recreate a box of lights, but in the end, I added so much foliage, the idea got a bit lost! ha ha! Regardless, I really like how this turned out and I really enjoyed the process!
To begin, I cut the bulbs from white and colored them with Pure Poppy, New Leaf, and Blueberry Sky ink. The tops and wire are also cut from white and then colored with Pinefeather ink for that traditional looking wire. I glued the tops on and then got to work on the foliage and berries.
I colored these the same way as I did for the first card with the same spritz. Next, I foiled an A2 panel of New Leaf cardstock using green foil and the Deco Framework Hot Foil Plate for a tone-on-tone vintage vibe! I used the largest die included in the Love to Layer: Fancy That (yes, it's gotten a workout) to cut the window in the front. I also added some additional details to the front of the "box" using the Merry Motifs Stamp Set along with the Hawaiian Shores panel underneath. When it was all said and done, most of the Hawaiian Shores details got covered up.
I added some Hawaiian Shores ink splatter to the background and then mounted the green layer over the top with foam squares. I glued the wire down and then added the bulbs using foam squares. The greenery is tucked here and there with foam squares and liquid glue. I heat embossed the sentiment, which is from the Deerest Blessings Stamp Set, in silver onto a strip of vellum. I wrapped it around the card and secured it with clear tape and then glued the entire panel to an A2 white card base using liquid glue.
My third card uses the set like the stamp guide shows; It includes this cute branch and snow for the lights to hang from. I omitted the wire, but it does show that in the stamping guide.
To begin this card, I created the foiled background using the Filigree Frame Hot Foil Plate and champagne foil on a panel of Ocean Tides cardstock. I trimmed it down close to the edge of the foiling and then mounted it onto an A2 panel of Coastal Blue cardstock. I also cut a mat from Coastal Blue using the new Love to Layer: Fancy That and layered it into the center of foiled design.
I also had a circle leftover from my wagon wheel card from day 1, so I added that in the center to create a nice clean space for the branch and bulbs.
I used the Hang The Lights Stencil Collection to add the design to both bulbs. I gave them a bit of glitter for a frosty look. I arranged the leaves and berries here and there until I was satisfied. The snow drifts and berries got a touch of crystal stickles and the sentiment, which is from the Just Sentiments: Believe Mini Stamp Set, is heat embossed with white detail embossing powder onto a strip of Pure Poppy cardstock. I layered it over the two bulbs with foam tape.
My final card for today uses the new Holiday Window Stamp/Die set. This set allows you to create a cozy holiday/or winter scene just perfect all season long! I cut all of the pieces using the Holiday Window Die set and then stamped everything while I had Mary Poppins going in the background....such a cheery show to sing along to while I was creating!
Once all of the stamping was complete, I mounted them onto the largest die included in the Love to Layer: Fancy That die cut from white cardstock.
The background was foiled using the same foil plate as the lightbulb card (linked there) using champagne foil on Pure Poppy cardstock. I trimmed it down and then mounted it to an A2 piece of Pure Poppy cardstock. I adhered the window piece using foam squares for dimension.
I covered up the main portion of the window and the sentiment with a sticky note and then gave it a good splatter of white gouache for a snowy look.
Thanks for fluttering by!
P.S. Join me tomorrow for day 3 of the countdown!
