Hello, friends! Thank you so much for all of the sweet comments you left on yesterday's post! Today is day 2 of the Destination: Summer reveals for The Greetery and boy is it a fun one! I gasped when I saw all of the stamps/dies/stencils for today's projects! Betsy always brings the best, on-trend products to fulfill all of our crafty dreams! These graphic maps are so stinking cute and are so trendy right now for wedding invites, save-the-date, etc. To see all of the product photos, details, etc., you'll want to head to The Greetery Blog. Also, don't forget to leave a comment here and all of the other designers' blogs (linked at the bottom of this post) for a chance to be eligible to win one of the two $50 gift certificates.
My first card for today uses the Destination: Summer stamp set and dies as well as the Destination Maps Stencil collection. I've also used the Destination Maps dies; this card uses the Waterfront die. I've mixed and matched all of these products for all three of today's projects, so I'll explain where and when I used which product.
To begin this card, I die cut the postage panel using the Postal Frames die and added some ink blending around the edges; blue where the water portion is and green where the earth/grass portions are.
After that was done, I created the lilies and palm leaves using the BontaniCuts Lily die and the BotaniCuts Palm die. I added ink and ink splatter to color them and then assembled them with liquid glue and foam squares. I set these aside and got to work on the map portion.
I die cut the Waterfront Map and then colored each piece using ink and a blender brush. Before I added the die cut pieces onto the panel, I stamped the "Sunny days are on the way" sentiment using black ink. I used the stencil over the top of the postal frame to allow me to place each piece back into place in the proper place and to give the correct spacing. I was able to simply lift the stencil off with perfect results!
The funnest part is stamping each of the pieces to fill in the details of the map. I chose to use mostly beachy pieces since I was going for a tropical, water scene! I die cut all of the little pieces and then stamped them using my mini MISTI. The only exception to this would be when stamping the compass. I felt it was easier to stamp the leaves first, then the flowers and the center, and THEN die cut it.
I used the "Glad Press-n-seal technique" for the placement of the lilies and palm fronds. I wanted to make sure I left enough room for all of the different elements and this technique really helps with proper placement.
My next card is much simpler in design, but I love how it turned out! This one uses the Destination stamp set and dies and the Round Destination Map die.
I used the same postal frame die for this card because it just gives it that postcard/travel vibe that I love. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the panel (the "if only in our dreams" portion is a separate stamp). I'm sure many of us have had summer plans cancelled with loved ones or friends that have been disappointing.
I die cut the Circle Map out of Mint cardstock and added some ink blending and ink splatter over the top. I used the stencil again to help me with placement. I used foam squares to add each individual piece onto the map. I love the dimension this gives to this simple design.
I added in all of the little details using additional foam squares. You can use as many or as few as you'd like depending on the theme of your card. Each of these sets has an assortment of sentiments that help decide which images you might choose to include.
My third card uses the Destination Maps Stencil collection as it was intended (LOL!). I placed it over the panel and then added in the different colored portions. The water portion is a separate stencil so you don't have to worry about any ink coming over an unwanted edge!
The stencil was the logical choice for me for this particular design. I knew I wanted the "Happy Summertime" sentiment directly on the panel and that would have been tricky using the dies. I added the "Hello" word, which is from the AMAZING Written in Ribbons stamp set. It really helped give this card that vintage postcard vibe I was going for!
I added the camera, palm trees, umbrella, boat, sun and the fun hibiscus arrangement in the corner. I wanted the "hello" to take center stage and the cute images add just the right amount of charm!
I had so much fun working on everything for this release! I hope you've enjoyed the last two days! Everything will be available for purchase on Friday, July 17th. You'll want to head to the other designers' blogs to see how they've used today's products as well! Don't forget to leave a comment here and on their blogs as well so you can be eligible for a chance to win one of the $50 gift certificates!
