A New Little Someone *SFYTT*

I need to make this quick...I hear little baby Rowan scratching in his crib. He loves to roll onto his tummy and scratch the sheets. Speaking of babies; I haven't made a baby card in a while and so I thought I would make one and add it to my stash. I am throwing a baby shower for one of my friends in the neighborhood in September, so maybe I will save this for her. Actually, the reason why I ended up making a baby card is because of the paper. I was digging through my stash to get some inspiration and came across this "Nana's Nursery" paper that I have had for a few years. It is made by DCWV and you can still probably find it at Hobby Lobby or Robert's if you are interested. I just love it!

I haven't used Baby Button Bits in a while and I thought that this flower image would work perfectly with the papers. I stamped it in Smokey Shadow ink rather than black to give it a softer look. I really like how it turned out. I colored it with a combination of Copic and Prismacolor markers. I did a bit of stitching, added some scallops detailed with "Liquid Pearls". I have had the "Liquid Pearls" for years, but haven't used it much because I don't like how the dollops come out slightly pointy. If anyone has a trick to get them to be rounder, I would love to hear it! Thanks in advance!

I am not thrilled with the buttons on the side, but nothing else seemed to be working. All in all I think it is a sweet little baby card. I think Jen's sketch is fabulous and I hope you all get a chance to play. I actually did some stamping this week, but never got anything uploaded. I will get them uploaded soon!

Tomorrow is my birthday, but I am not exactly looking forward to it since I am turning a really depressing age. That particular number just seems really old for some reason. The number after that number doesn't seem as old. Isn't that funny? So maybe I will enjoy next year's birthday a little more! LOL!

  1. That's a gorgeous card! I love the mix of colors and patterns.
To get your Liquid Pearls to be more pearl-shaped, after you've added your dollops, pick up your piece, hold it horizontally and give it a few good flicks on the underside. The force should make the points go away! HTH!

  9. Darling card and use of Jen's sketch. I remember 30 hitting me really hard as I was single and wanted to be married with kids. 40 wasn't an issue at all. We'll see what happens at 50 LOL! Just live in the moment -- age is simple a number and I definitely don't act mine :D

  10. Gasp! Kelly, this is so sweet and feminine and pretty! Happy birthday, too. Don't fret - it's just a number :) Hope you have a fantastic day!!

For the liquid pearls, I have the same issue. I have a friend who has much better results using Viva Decor's pearl pens.

  11. Happy Birthday! I know what you mean about the number after the number - I turned 40 last year and for some reason that was ok; however, 41 this year suddenly felt old. But I have two little ones who are keeping me young, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

I love the card - the colors are perfect.

  13. What a gorgeous card, love the different color patterns of the dp! I hope you have a very happy birthday - part of getting older is getting to see your children and eventually, grandchildren grow up, so celebrate it all!! It was hard for me to turn fifty (and thirty and forty before that LOL!!) but now that has passed I thank God for every day to enjoy with my family and friends!!
