We are all still scratching our heads as to how this is possible. People keep asking me if maybe I had twins or if it really was the same baby. The answer is No, because this baby is due in Januray and my other baby had a November due date. I had to include some photos of the *fortunes* we got in our fortune cookies a couple of days after we took the pregnancy test, but before I had my blood drawn. The top one is my husbands and the bottom one is from my cookie. Crazy, huh?
Well, that is more information than I thought I would share. I have kept the miscarriage in, even though I wanted to tell everyone so that you might know where I have been coming from and for my lack of posting and creativity in general. I am hoping that I am on the tail end of my morning sickness and fatigue. I usually have great pregnancies with tons of energy after the morning sickness ends, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I can't believe I am sending my youngest to first grade on the 20th and bringing a newborn into the world. Some may say I am crazy and maybe I am, but I am beyond excited and can't wait to have this little one to myself all day long while the other kids are at school. It will feel like my first...that is until 3:30 rolls around and the kids walk through the door! LOL!
I guess I should get around to the card, huh? This is another fabulous sketch by Jen Del Muro, who announced yesterday of her impending birth! I think we are due at the same time! Do you know how long I have kept this crazy stamp set and pregnant girl stamp around just so I could make this card? Amy R and Taylor made a card years and years ago using this combo and I just loved it. The pregnant gal and the big work together perfectly. I started out by picking out some fun, *kindof* gender neutral papers from My Mind's Eye. I created the base by layering paper and doing some crazy sewing. I stamped the b and the g using Berry Sorbet ink by Papertrey Ink.
The girl was stamped using brown StazOn ink and then colored using prismacolor markers and copics. I decided to change the shape into a tag so that I would have a nice place to add some ribbon since last week I didn't use any at all! I made the circle smaller than the sketch indicated, but it would have covered up my focal image. I stamped the star image from Nursery Necessities and punched it out using the star punch. All of the edges have been distressed using Vintage Photo distress ink. I stamped the news sentiment onto a strip of chocolate chip cardstock and then lined it up in the circle punch so that it would align perfectly. I added a few buttons to the side for detail.
I guess I will save this card until I find out that one of my friends are expecting.
kelly...what precious and exciting news!!! you and jen both expecting...priceless! congratulations, sweetheart!

Having and loving children is never something you should feel "crazy" for or apologize about. :) They are precious gifts and I am so happy for you and that you were able to get pregnant so soon after your miscarriage. I have had several myself and know the "funk" you speak of, and it is GREAT that your funk ended up being a new pregnancy and not just residual hormones! Best wishes to you!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I was checking out your blog yesterday and I saw the little baby counter in the corner and I was thinking to myself, "Gee, I don't remember an announcement" and I went through your posts to find the big news and here it is today!!! Congratulations Kelly!!! I am so happy for you! What a precious and delightful announcement!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your pregnancy! I had a similar situation with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies. My first pregnancy went so well and I didn't expect to have issues with the 2nd. I was devastated to have miscarried. Then almost a year to the date of my miscarriage my 2nd son was born. He is the most kind and gentle child. He's almost 4 now and I can look back on the situation and see that it was meant to be. That wasn't something I could do years ago.
ReplyDeleteI love you card. The sketch is fantastic and I can't wait to play along.
Congrats again!
This is terrific news and a true blessing. I am very happy for you Kelly! God bless you and your family.

ReplyDeleteKelly you made me cry because I had a similar incident in my family. My only son's wife (both got married mid-March) announced her pregnancy on Father's Day (she was two month's pregnant) only to have a miscarriage July 3rd. I am so happy you got pregnant again and am wishing the same miracle for them. God bless your family!
ReplyDeletePatM.
Congratulations on the wonderful news. It sounds like you have been on a roller coaster the last few months. Take care of yourself & your family. I loved the fortunes that you received.
ReplyDeletespaterI just love your announcement card!!!! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteHere is my story: I miscarried with my first pregnancy and fully understand how hard a loss it is. I then had a boy and girl without any problem. I finally had to use fertility drugs to get my third child. I still wanted another baby. My third child was so concerned about me being all alone when she started kindergarten that she "prayed" her little sister into existence!!! It was a little weird starting over with a baby with three children in school but I wound not change a thing.
Best of luck to you and your family.
Nancy

ReplyDeleteYour card is OVER the top CUTE too!!!
Oh Kelly, I am SO excited for you!! God surely has special plans for this baby! It's kinda interesting that you missed out on your first trimester, huh? I still have that SU Big News set - where is the PG lady from - is that an SU set? I'm making lots of these cards lately because my 2 married daughters have married friends who are having babies.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm expecting my 2nd grandbaby in 2 weeks and I can hardly wait! My oldest DD has our precious Little Anna, who is 16 months old, so these siblings will be close together. And since they decided not to find out ahead of time what the gender of the baby is, I'll be mighty busy shopping for boy clothes if the baby is a boy! If it's another girl, then she'll be ALL SET - between the clothes I bought, all the gifts, then the HUGE bags of clothes a family from church gave her - so many lovely little girls' clothes - and they're the same taste that my DD has, so that's nice too!
Congrats again! And I'll be praying for a smooth, healthy pregnancy and a happy healthy little one to greet you in the New Year!

Wonderful, wonderful news - A HUGE congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to tell you how much our stories are alike (miscarriage and all, even the part about telling the doctor there is no way I could be pregnant, until we all saw the ultrasound) but let's just say that my third (who is now 9 and was a January baby too!) was and is still my gift from God. I am going to pray for you everyday until you have this healthy dear sweet baby.

ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful news - huge congratulations to you and your family. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss before this miracle, I can relate as I lost 3 before I had my two precious girls. It doesn't make it any easier at the time, but I just came to accept that the time wasn't right for us to have a child and when it was we had our healthy babies.
I've been a huge fan of your work for a long time now. I'm horrible at leaving comments, but I enjoy lurking. I just wanted to leave a note on your big news, though. :)
All the best to you for a healthy pregnancy and hope the morning sickness goes away soon. Take care!
Hugs,
Julie

ReplyDeleteOh Kelly, I am so sorry about the emotional roller coaster you have been on for the last number of months! I am so very happy about the wonderful new now! Congratulations to you. I know how stressful it can be to want a baby...it took DH and I two years of trying before we had our first. The two longest years of our marrage! There is little more stressful! God's blessings on you and your little one on the way!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Big congrats!!My thoughts and prayers will be with you for a happy, healthy pregnancy.

Oh my dear Kelly, I can't begin to tell you how "over the moon" happy I am for you and your family!!! What a story with such a happy ending. I am so sorry for your miscarriage, but I know you continued to have faith, even when it didn't seem possible, and then it DID happen! Wowzers, this whole experience has made you stronger woman and mother--just what you'll need to keep up with your new baby!
ReplyDeleteRemember--there are 12 and 14 years difference between George and his older siblings, Hank and Kendra, so if I can do it--you can surely do it!
Big sweet hugs to you!
Amy

ReplyDelete{{{kelly}}}! I DID see the baby countdown on your blog the other day and wondered if you and jen were due around the same time.
