Vintage Sympathy

I never like "needing" a sympathy card, but I do this week. A lady from my neighborhood lost her Mom to cancer. I feel really bad for her. I wanted to use Vintage Violet, one of the first In-Colors from a few years ago. I haven't used it in a awhile. I always over analyze sympathy cards because I don't want them to seem dreary as I fear this one may. I tried to add a bright ribbon and some glitter to keep it from seeming too dark. I think she probably likes purple, because she wears it often. I used my "Gentler Times" set that is retired from SU! also. I guess today is an oldie but goodie day. I didn't have a sympathy sentiment small enough to fit where I wanted it, so I printed one from my computer. I thought it blended nicely with the feel of the card.

On a happier note...my son won his last football game on Saturday ending the season at 7-0! The whole season has been so exciting, but not nearly as much as yesterday's game.
The other team was 6-0 going in, like us. Even though we won, I couldn't help feel bad for the other team's boys who had worked hard all season, to end with a loss. It could have just as easily been us. I tried to prepare my son just in case. Since we are in the JR. division, there are no championship games, but we will continue on with some extra games that the team can attend if they want (for a small fee) LOL! So...Football continues for at least another month. I am glad it isn't over yet! Thanks for fluttering by!
P.S. It is time again for a release from The Saltbox Studio, so stay tuned this week for sneak peeks! Yay!

Glitter Shoes!!!

I know this may seem silly, but another reason I love glitter so much is to play doctor to my daughter's glitter shoes. With a 5 year old girl, glitter shoes are a staple at my house! LOL! I love SU!'s chunky sprinkles and chunky glitter for such shoes. Invevitably, the toes get worn out long before any other area. I decided to put my supplies to good use! I hope there are any other glitter shoe girls who can benefit from this! LOL! Thanks for fluttering by!

Ahoy, Matey!

I am back...FINALLY! My poor stamp table has been collecting dust! LOL! I needed to make a card for my FIL's birthday today. I am sure you may be wondering why in the world would I make such a childish card for my FIL. Let me explain: My FIL has quite a collection of Pinball machines and arcade games. I made him Pirates of the Caribbean and NASCAR curtains for his Pinball Parlor. They will be his birthday gift. So...in the spirit of the gift, I decided to make a Pirate card. I think he will get a kick out of it anyway! I love coloring this image with my copic and prismacolor markers. I don't think I have ever watercolored this little guy. I added the parrot atop his head using my Stamp-a-majig. As you can see, I did a lot of sponging. Lots of layers for color and dimension. I didn't add too much hardware because it is for a man, just a quick staple to adhere the tab with the sentiment. Pretty straightforward. Thanks for hanging in there during my absence. I have a busy week with volunteering at the school, finishing up DT assignments, etc. but I will hopefully be able to find some time to share some creations with you.

Disappearing act!

I am sure many of you have been wondering where I have disappeared to! LOL! I have been sick since last week, plus I did my workshop, so now I am just trying to get better. I haven't stamped anything to share, so I will try to get going on things when I am feeling better! I will be back soon, hopefully! Thanks for fluttering by!

Masculine Birthday

I needed to make a masculine card this week and I bought "Wildlife Reserve" before it retired for such an occasion. I wanted to add a few more bells and whistles, but I thought the ribbon was already a bit much for a man's card. I messed up on a sentiment that I placed over the elk, so I decided to add a strip of paper, which then led to another strip of paper, but I thought it gave it some interest without being to fussy or feminine. I wasn't in the mood to watercolor the image, so I stuck with stamping it in Chocolate Chip ink onto Old Olive cardstock. This card measures 4 1/4 by 4 1/4. I used my color spritzing tool to add some ink splatters...surprise, surprise!!! LOL! I seem to be using it on everything lately. I got some new goodies from Mr. Brown today...nothing major...all accessories, so I will be playing with them soon!

My daughter is whining at my side as I type, needing "FOOD NOW", she insists!!!!! I better go! Thanks for fluttering by!

Upsy Daisy Thanks

I decided to check out the sketch challenge for today over at SCS. It was simple and clean and perfect for the focal image from the new "Upsy Daisy" set from SU! Every time I think of "Upsy Daisy" I think of Hugh Grant in the movie "Notting Hill". Does it remind anyone else of that? Maybe I am just weird. Well...I know I am weird. LOL! I also used my beloved Urban Garden DSP again. I am in love with the color combo and patterns on this paper. I used the key tag punch for the sentiment and positioned it lower on the punch so I would have room to embellish it a bit since I was putting a white tag on a white field. I think it may be too much, but it is done! LOL! This is a really easy card to put together, especially for a workshop. I have one coming up on the 11th and I think this may be one of the projects. Easy Peasy! And it shows off some great new products and some old ones as well. I also really like this set because it has three sentiments with it. I like versatile sets. Enough of my rambling...I have laundry and cleaning to do. Thanks for fluttering by!
