SugarPea Designs Summer Release Day 2: Stuck on You!

Welcome to Day 2 of the SugarPea Designs Summer release! Warning: Long post because I am in LOVE  with this new set called Stuck on You and the new Geometric Floral Coverplate! I had to stop myself because I would have just kept creating and creating....and...I did happen to sneak a few more of these adorable images onto my project for tomorrow. Shhhh.....
You'll definitely want to head over to the SugarPea Designs Blog to see what the other designers have created!

To begin, I stamped an army of succulents and pots in various shades of ink using the new Stuck On You stamp set. I got to work die cutting them all using the Stuck on You SugarCuts

I knew that I would be using the "Everything succs without you" sentiment and decided that it would be fun to use the YOU SugarCut as well. I die cut it 4 times and glued it together and then added some crystal glaze over the top for some shine. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold. I really love how this particular font looks heat embossed.

The background is dry embossed using the new Geometric Floral Coverplate. I just love how it looks embossed. I will use it again tomorrow, but as a die cut. I have actually used it in a quite a few ways this week so that you can see how versatile it as, and, let's be honest...I can't get enough of it! Once it was embossed, I used one of the larger circles from the Zig Zag Stitched Circle SugarCuts. I popped up that portion using foam squares. Once that was done, I had so much fun arranging all of the pots and plants! A few sequins finish it off!

Normally, I would have just moved on to the next new product, but I just didn't get my fill of these cuties! I wanted to use the "stuck on you" sentiment paired with the cacti images. My vision was to have a boy and girl cactus. My husband and my 20th anniversary is coming up, so I thought this would be a good card! That idea didn't really pan out, but I LOVE how there are heart shaped cacti! Soooooo adorable!

When preparing for this release, I googled images of cacti so that I could get the coloring right. I came across THIS quilt and new it would be a fabulous inspiration piece for a card! You will definitely be able to see how I incorporated the small details of the quilt onto this design.

To get started, I dry embossed the Geometric Floral Coverplate onto a piece of white cardstock. Like I mentioned before, I just can't get enough! I thought it looked like quilting so I used it! I really liked the variations in color on the cacti on the fabric so I used some various shades of green on each individual image. Once they were done, I diecut them using the Stuck On You SugarCuts. I arranged the pot and the cacti onto a piece of white carstock that had been die cut using the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles. I matted that onto a piece of green cardstock.

As you can see, I used a lot of foam squares to get lots of dimension so that the cacti would look a little more realistic. I also added a strip of striped paper from the Spots and Stripes Bright Paper Pad. I loved the striped binding from the inspiration quilt.

The sentiment is created to look like the quilt label so I stamped the "stuck on you" sentiment in black ink onto a piece of white carstock. I then did some machine stitching on either side to look like the label. I love how it turned out and I hope my husband likes it! Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for Day 3 of the release and you might just see these little cuties again! Thanks for fluttering by!
