I decided that this tree from "Thoughts and Prayers" would be the perfect fit for this particular sketch and that one of the sentiments would fit nicely into the circle. I haven't used much of this Bella Bleu DSP, so I thought I would pair the two together. I was shocked to learn that the SU! catalog suggested that Not Quite Navy was the matching blue for this paper. I just couldn't bring myself to stamp that tree in Not Quite Navy, so I started out stamping it in Vanilla. That was much too light, so I decided to emboss it in Gold! Isn't it beautiful? I had just been thinking to myself the other day that I don't emboss enough. The sentiment needed to be embossed as well. I punched it out using the 1 3/4 inch circle punch. I also added a simple bow of Kraft taffeta ribbon. I always love when I make a card that I normally *never* would have without some sort of challenge. This is one of those cards. I really like how it turned out in the end. I think this is the perfect kind of card to cheer some one up who is going through a hard time; simple, clean, elegant.

ReplyDeleteWow Kelly that's a lot of posting! And Wow what a spectacular card. This paper has been a favorite of mine since it came out and I'm really hoping it makes it into the new catalog so I can play with it for another year! I've been Gold embossing Kraft with great delight for some time and am glad to see that it looks just as wow here on your card. My friends thought I was crazy mixing Gold and Kraft but I just knew it would work. Now if only my embossing technique could live up to the stellar materials used. I'll have to practice some more then put my CASEing skills to work when my next shipment of Bella Bleu arrives (so convenient that SU has DSP on special this month!).
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this special bit of loveliness and I'm looking forward to another 300 posts (at least). Your blog links are some of the most popular on my stamping newsletter.

Too funny. I'll have to send her a link to this post so she can see what it can look like. Thanks for the chance to win.
